Ok…. Is it just me or do John’s vocals resemble Stewie Griffin’s voice from Family Guy?! I laugh every time I hear the song because I am imagining Stewie singing….
That’s funny. When I think about it, there is some resmblence to Stewie’s voice of exasperation when John sings the end of some lines (…She done me good…).
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

In the Beatles Concert Rooftop , in the middle of ” Don’t Let Me Down ” John sung a Sentence that is not English , what language is that and what it means ?
Thanks

It means nothing. He just forgot the lyrics…

I like the edit of naked much better than the film version, it sounds much more professionall (that’s what i like most about naked) and george martin did always use edits of different take (yeah, for sure naked is not like the original get back album, it sounds very professional and that’s awesome (but i think the martin mixes of get back and let it be are the most professional). I think the get back sessions had a very bad luck. You know the best take of get back didn’t feature a coda, the best take of let it be featured a bad solo, lennon forgot the lyrics during the best take of don’t let me down but george martin did the thing that was best he edited like he had done in all prior years. So in fact i think a complete let it be album produced by george martin would be a very good idea (every song should sound like the single version of gt back and let it be)
I have no problem with assembling different studio takes to create a pristine master, but don’t think the practice should be done to LIVE material – at least not if they’re attempting to create something honest, as they were in the case of Let It Be .
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I assumed it was for Yoko, and he was asking her not to let him down, because he was in love with her and she was in love with him, and he knew it would last as long as neither let the other down.
Have to say I’d always thought the same. But it just doesn’t feel like its to her. Listen to it with my theory in mind. The tone, cadence, everything fits better when it’s John singing about Yoko to Paul, and perhaps George and Ringo, stick by me mates, I’m still a Beatle but damn I’m blown away by this woman.

And there’s also this:
Nobody ever loved me like she does
Ooo she does, yes she does
And if somebody loved me like she do me
Ooo she do me, yes she does
Odd to say she if its to Yoko, right? I’m likely way off here lol

You’re not alone on the Paul interpretation. I vaguely remember reading that some things John and Paul sang in the outtakes or said while recording supported the theory, but I don’t know where I saw that.

I’ve always felt like it was Johnny giving himself a good talking to. “Damn, Lennon, you have screwed up so many times with relationships over the years. This one matters. You’ve not put in the effort so many times in the past. Don’t go doing the same again, or else this is one you’re really gonna regret.”

I feel it that the song is for Yoko, since John looks at Yoko when he sings that line.

I always thought it was about Yoko, but this is an interesting theory too!

While listening to this song today, I started thinking that the shrieking John does beginning at 2:52 (video in spoiler should begin there)
was a nod to Yoko.
Joe’s write up says that it is a love song to Yoko.

I hear the word “please” in most of the shrieking. A couple sound like just a shriek. This doesn’t mean it wasn’t a love song to Yoko, just that I think I make some sense of the high notes. In fact, thinking back, the karaoke machine put “please” in a couple places for the shriek.
I’ll just add here that this is one of my fave Beatles songs atm. I like the low, guttural way John sings the line “she done me good”

I’ve always heard that shriek as “Please”, i’ve always thought it was. It certainly fits in with the song.
One interesting take i’ve heard on the song is that at least part of it could be a request to his three bandmates to not let John down in how they respond to and act around his newly found love. ”I’m in love for the first time, don’t you know its gonna last.” would certainly fit in with that. So maybe it’s a love song about and to Yoko whilst also being a plea to his mates.

I was reading today the John considered the melody of Rod Stewart’s The Killing of Georgie (Part II) was ripped off from this, “the lawyers never noticed”.
I can see what he means. What do you think?
