Cranberry Sauce. Paul McCartney is alive. He was not replaced by William Campbell. No car accident involving Paul McCartney happened in 1966.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

Before I knew the backstory, I always thought that it said “I'm very strong”. Someone once told me they heard “I'm very bored”.
Maybe John's been messing with us this whole time?

True, but he was involved in a moped accident (see the “Rain ” video to see Paul's chipped tooth). This is probably how the whole lunacy over his “death” began. And some guy with too much time on their hands looking for clues everywhere.

I thought it was “I'm very bored” too, before I found out it was cranberry sauce. which it is, I agree.

I've never understood how anybody could have heard “I buried Paul” unless they had cotton in their ears. The sibilance in the word “sauce” is pretty clearly audible.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Actually I had always heard “I buried Paul” since I was a small child. It was not until I discovered this site about a year ago that I read about the words being “cranberry sauce”. I had been living a lie for over 40 years!
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

And according to our always reliable friend wikipedia…. the Irish band Cranberries are named after this line. Their original name was Cranberry Saw-us..

That's what I thought John was saying the first time I heard it — I thought it was some sort of ironic comment about being very bored by this Strawberry Fields place……
But if you listen to the unadorned version that's on Anthology 2 , it's very clear John is saying “crrrrrran-berry sauce” (he says it twice)
I've got nothing to say, but it's okay..

“I buried Klaus” (Voormann?)
“I buried Claus” (Santa?)
“I'm very horse”
“Turn me on, dead man”
Just kidding. Most people thought it was “buried Paul” back when the Paul is Dead rumor was breaking news. I wasn't truly certain what John said until I heard all the “Strawberry Fields Forever ” outtakes in the late 1980's. Then Mark Lewisohn's book told me why.

It’s cranberry sauce.
And yes MMM, I heard the ‘house of Paul’ in ADITL. It also sounds like George is moaning ‘Paul’ towards the end of While My Guitar Gently Weeps ……..
Still writing the words to the sermon that no one will hear......

I thought he was either slurring the words Strawberry Fields or he was saying the words Strawberry Fields and the recording had been slowed down.

I never heard “I buried Paul” but I wasn’t 100% it was Cranberry Sauce until I read it in a book. I can see why people would think it is “I buried Paul” on first listen but I think after repeated listens it is obviously Cranberry Sauce.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.
