Aww! Brian seems like such a sweet man. I love how he’s got Help ! just peeking out from behind him.
He really does. He rescues small, cute, furry animals as a side-hobby, too, which is like the most stereotypically nice thing it is possible to do (in a good way).
The Help ! cover reminded me of last night when I attempted to record Mamunia with Band On The Run sitting behind me (my family walked in at the end )

Not sure if these are BETTER but they’re certainly good…I was very happy to see this in my subscriptions feed this morning:
Brian May has been doing daily Instagram guitar-playing addresses, which this channel has been good enough to upload to YouTube, and today’s was a nice little unplugged cover of You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away which quite made my day…
Both are absolute legends! I definitely enjoyed the “I Feel Fine ” cover– absolutely fantastic and so cool and interesting and just plain awesome And Brian May has such a nice disposition and is such a lovely man– I thoroughly enjoyed watching/listening to his cover And those #InnerLight2020 videos were spectacular, too– I loved each one of them and I’m very impressed by all these people’s talent and hard work that they put into their interpretations/covers of “TIL”
Welp, I’m gonna stop my gushing here. Thanks for sharing, Bebu!

You’re welcome, Rita! Glad someone enjoyed and didn’t just go”oh why’d you have to dump a ton of vids in here “
By all means check out the #innerlight2020 hashtag on YouTube. I’ve been going through the challengers periodically, partly out of solidarity but also because I’m really enjoying hearing all the different ways people have managed to interpret what I always thought of as a fairly specific song. Just goes to show that you can take virtually any Beatles song, even the more arrangement-specific ones, and interpret them in radically different ways and they still hold up as excellent examples of songcraft.

I’d quite like to know how Brian would have liked to have seen the Beatles catalogue handled, is that in regards to nowadays and the releases being put out since he mentions the younger generation so I presume nowadays?
I think we can all agree Apple’s releases at times are badly done so to hear someone’s ideas who is heavily involved in Queen’s releases would be cool. And it’s not like he would say release the archives as Queen aren’t exactly flooding the market with outtakes and deluxe sets.
Thanks for the video, I skipped his singing but listened to what he had to say.

mja6758, you may be right. I’ve never been a big fan of the original, though it’s enjoyable enough (is it really good enough to be the #2 song on the album? That’s for another thread); I think I like this one better. Ironically, I think the vocal arrangement is better here than on the White Album . I DO miss the bass line, and I think this version is a tad too fast.
Have you ever heard Emmylou Harris’s?
What is happening? And tell me how you've been.

I’ve never been a fan of his voice and find it very difficult to get into the tracks he sang lead on with Queen, the best one probably being ‘Leaving Home Ain’t Easy’. Suppose it’s kind of like why folk are quick to write off Ringo’s singing due to being in the same band as George, Paul and John.

I found his voice rather pleasant there, he wasn’t being particularly fancy with the vocal, but I generally like his singing fine so maybe I’m biased.

Fair enough. A lot of folks love his voice. I’m very much of the opinion that Queen had one of the greatest singers ever in Freddie Mercury and I’ve never been able to find the good in listening to Brian or Roger. As said, it will be how many view Ringo due to being in the Beatles (and possibly even George to some).

My favourite cover of a Beatles song is Oasis doing I Am The Walrus , but I still prefer the original.
I do prefer the Guns N Roses version of Live And Let Die , though

I think Wes Montgomery’s cover of ‘A Day In The Life ‘ is really great, but then again there are too many great Beatles covers to name..
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
