I think I need to clarify about I Saw Her Standing There . It's in no way one of the worst things they did, and the countdown is electrifying, but after that, something is just lacking. I think it's unpolished sound was intentional, but I would have preferred them to lose the raggedness of the recording.
As if it matters how a man falls down.'
'When the fall's all that's left, it matters a great deal.
It was actually one of the songs they spent the most time recording on 11 Feb 1963 – There’s A Place was done in 10 takes, Seventeen (as it was then known) in nine, all in the morning. Handclaps were added later that day.
FWIW I think it’s brilliant. I can’t really think of a better album opener from that time, apart from possibly PPM .

That's a good point, I'm sure Queen, well I'm not sure if Freddy was still alive by then, but I'm sure whoever was left of Queen were so grateful for the unbelievable performance by Vanilla Ice that they let bygones be bygones.
It's funny that most people nowadays don't even realize that Queen was ripped off, I've heard people get upset because they thought that Vanilla Ice was the one ripped off! Oh some people…
Ah, but Queen kinda ripped off Chic! “Good Times” —–> “Another One Bites the Dust”, more or less.
But I'm with you – I'd be annoyed by anybody who thought Vanilla Ice was the originator, and I never even cared for “Under Pressure” (much less “Ice Ice Baby”), just because I'm annoyed by ignorance. I don't think mere bass lines should be able to be protected by copyright though (and they aren't.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Vanilla Ice eventually gave Mercury and Bowie songwriting credits, which was weird, because Mercury had nothing to do with the bassline. Deacon and Bowie both credit the other one, Taylor and May also credit Deacon.
I told her I didn’t
