I love Delaney & Bonnie. So did L’Angelo Misterioso, because he could join them on stage virtually undetected.
Seems the only people who didn’t like Delaney and Bonnie were the people that had to deal with them, and mainly it was Delaney they didn’t like. From all accounts, from Eric Clapton and Bobby Whitlock and many others, he was a real a-hole.

Since there’s no news on when or, more appropriately, “if” this ancient relic will ever see the “Light” of day during our lifetimes, I find myself digging around for a bit more background on “the scene” which inspired its creation in the first place. This article here I found to be a fascinating read:
http://www.redbullmusicacademy…..c-workshop
It’s easy to see why The Beatles could have been drawn to dabbling in this domain, things like ‘Revolution #9′, ‘What’s The New Mary Jane ?’ or George’s ‘Electronic Sound ‘ make a little more “sense” perhaps after you discover that there was actually a lot of movement in this field, if however an “underground” movement with humble beginnings….:-)

In Clapton’s autobiography he seems quite fond of Delaney actually.

Posted over at the Bootlegzone forum is a joke video of ‘Carnival Of Light (if you want to hear it link). The reason i post is the info on the youtube page which quite brilliantly takes the piss out of all the others:
Found this in a vintage box of Fruit Loops I purchased off of Ebay for $0.99 free shipping. It was an acetate recording. Barb Brew End was the seller’s name. His account is now deleted, weird. What’s even more weird is the acetate glows in the dark and smells like sour apples. Hmmm…There was rumor the Beatles Carnival Of Light was circulated by a secret society cult of underground eccentrics so who knows? Perhaps this is part of it and you have to buy more vintage cereal boxes to solve the puzzle. It must be a riddle.

Our only real hope, in all likelihood, to ever hearing this curio in our lifetimes is that someone leaks it unofficially… While that, at first, appears to be somewhat of a bleak prospect… Consider this…
Mark Lewisohn claimed that there were initially two copies of ‘Revolution (Take 20)’ upon its inception… One of them still sits in the vaults while the other was taken by John Lennon … Now, how on earth did this one get out in 2009? You’d think that the security protocols governing who & what’s let out of the vaults would be of the highest calibre which makes this route the least likely avenue… Assuming Yoko Ono is in possession of John’s copy, then how did someone gain access there? Yoko’s been accused of a lot of things but pretty much everyone agrees that she’s about as smart as they come… It’s very unlikely that Yoko kept the reel lying around the Dakota with a ‘Revolution (Take 20)’ label on it for the housekeeper to pocket…
With this in mind… There’s probably atleast one or more copies of ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ in circulation than there, well, used to be of ‘Revolution (Take 20)’… The vault surely has one and Paul McCartney confirmed in 2008 that he’s in possession of, what he calls, “the master”… A mono mix of the track made afterwards was given to the trio (don’t have their names handy) who organized the Rave at The Roundhouse to be played that weekend… You’d have to think that its chances of getting out there are considerably higher than that of ‘Revolution (Take 20)’, which is all ready out there…
The vaults are sealed… No one gets in or out… Is there perhaps some clandestine operations going on here involving both Yoko & Paul? Here you have Paul publicly expressing his desire for the world to hear ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ right around the same time ‘Revolution (Take 20)’ is leaked to the world… Why would Yoko want ‘Revolution (Take 20)’ released unofficially anyways? Quite simply, it’s The Beatles & Yoko Ono dialed in and it sounds incredible… Why does Paul want ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ put out there? He wants the public to see that he, like John, Stu, Yoko and others, were ahead of the curve in areas other than popular music… something that he rarely gets credit for…
Stay Tuned… We may just get to experience whatever it was that The Beatles were experiencing that evening sometime in the near future after all… 🙂

A mix of ‘CoL’ was apparently made for ‘Anthology 2 ‘ but then George vetoed its inclusion and it got dropped. Depending on who and what you believe this is out there in the world of the underground but has never appeared – not at all unlikely as there is a lot of unheard Beatles material which circulates but has never surfaced.
One note regarding Beatles material is that before everything got computerised and stored as such, copies of tapes were made and copies of these copies were leaked; it’s how some bootlegs were sourced. The issue with ‘CoL’ appearing is it’s reportedly so unBeatley and so many labelled as genuine mixes have been confirmed as fake that even the genuine recording will be called fake by many unless it comes directly from Apple.

Another proverbial “ray of hope” is that, being 2017 and classified as unreleased material, the copyright on this buried relic does fall into the Public Domain after December 31st of this year which means that Paul McCartney would be free to release it, secretly or not, without legal repercussions… It also puts pressure on Apple to release it officially before then should they want to cash in on it while they still can… The clock is ticking so we shall see…:-)

Paul will not go against Apple and release it without the others permission. He sees the Beatles as a four, still sticking to the original four-vote majority for any release.
Apple won’t be under any pressure as they know whatever they release will sell, even if it’s already out there.

It’s hard to say for certain… The window of opportunity will be there if he really wants it out there though…

When it comes to what appeals to Beatle collectors, as opposed to those who enjoy their music a lot, I’m not so certain that there’s much of a market in that ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ “will sell”… I, for one, just want to hear it… Most of us will probably treat it as we do any other avant garde “clues”… Listen to it once or twice (on YouTube and other means) and that’s about it… Apple’s more about appealing to the next generation of Beatle fans, while still keeping the current generation interested and what that means is more of exactly what we’ve been getting from them, and that’s more reissues…
There’s not too many ways that money can be made from ‘Carnival Of Light ‘, unless it’s showcased in conjunction with some other release… I think that they missed the boat with this one when the 50th Anniversary of ‘Sgt. Pepper ‘ came and went though… ‘Magical Mystery Tour ‘ maybe? Probably the best way to unveil it would be in the same manner that it was intended in the first place… Play it for a live audience at the beginning of one of Paul’s shows or something… A bonus disc or, overpriced preorder to download and “be the first to hear it” promo are about the only ways you’re gonna make money on this one…
I haven’t followed the sales of Beatles’ records for quite some time now, but it’s probably a safe bet that sales are dipping fast… Much of this has to do with the way we listen to music nowadays, of course, but I think that Apple’s business model since the 80’s has turned away millions (not just $$ but people)… I personally haven’t bought any Beatles’ “new” releases, save for the BBC Vol. 2 discs, since the ‘Anthology’ albums… All of these highly anticipated releases were disappointing to me, for the most part… The same songs recycled, yet again, and any “new” content on the latest Apple playlist coming in the form of a Mash-Up… The bootlegs are far superior, in my opinion… For ones that are so worried about “tarnishing their image”, they’ve sure made things more difficult on themselves with the subsequent ‘Naked’ & ‘Love’ releases…
As I said earlier, our only hope is that it gets put out unofficially and I think that the chances of that are a little better than most people think, whether it’s Paul slipping it under somebody’s door or whatever… Those who are actually interested in hearing ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ aren’t getting any younger and the track runs the risk of fading into obscurity forever… The question is, does Paul McCartney want us to hear it, or not, before that happens…:-)

There will always be an interest in ‘CoL’ as it’s an unreleased almost unheard Beatles track. Apple can market it as such and, regardless of the actual recording content, interest and hype will soar and the release will sell, download and/or stream. Not in the millions of the Anthologies admittedly.
Paul wants the track out there, it’s others who are stopping it. George was dead against it on ‘Anthology 2 ‘ and it wouldn’t surprise me if Olivia keeps his wish. Additionally John is the one frequently portrayed as the experimental Beatle, would Yoko want that openly challenged considering ‘CoL’ was Paul’s driving force.
It also doesn’t fit with the cosy Beatles image that Apple are so used to pushing due to just how experimental the track is, this is way beyond ‘Revolution 9 ‘. It’s going to take a mighty shove for Apple to move despite how I ended the previous paragraph.

I highly doubt Yoko will block the release to prevent the credit for experimenting from going to Paul. It just seems silly.

I’d have to agree here… If anyone other than Paul has an appreciation for this track, it’s Yoko Ono… If anything, it would effectively demonstrate that John was into this kinda thing well before the public began to question “what the hell has happened to John?” and “what’s she done to him?!” remarks when they first heard the ‘Two Virgins ‘ record over a year later… Yoko’s not the problem here… It’s Olivia Harrison who needs to be swayed… a tall order for sure, since it was George who didn’t want it to go out… George’s objections appear to be based solely on his opinion that the track is a piece of crap that he doesn’t want his name to be associated with… There’s no hidden motivations there, he thinks that it’s garbage…:-)

Do we actually know that Olivia will block it’s release because George didn’t want it to be released or this just speculation?
I do hope that Olivia can be swayed and this track finally does see the light of day (see what I did there?)

I believe it’s speculation, it certainly is on my side, however, Olivia always comes across as being very respectful of George and his views, beliefs and desires.

Which is the right move in my opinion. If you’re wondering whether or not he’d want it released, its best to keep things as they are rather than make a move.
I just wish George could have hooked us when he had the chance.

I appreciate that she is respectful to George’s desires. If Carnival Of Light was to be released I wonder how it would be released. Would it be released on it’s own or as part of a compilation? I would rather it be included on a compilation because that would mean we would get some more music.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

Probably didn’t have a clue what they were listening to.
Here’s an interesting excerpt from Wiki:
In a 2016 interview, Lewisohn said: “Everything on those albums had to be agreed on by all of them … I was pushing for [“Carnival Of Light “] to be on Anthology 2 , with some resistance from a number of people on the team. It certainly didn’t get beyond George [Harrison], I’m not sure it got beyond Ringo or Yoko either. It was something that was going to, potentially, spotlight only Paul in a good way and I don’t know that was something they collectively wanted.”
So there is a chance it was 3 v 1 on the side of no.
