How come that there’s no Let It Be Naked ?
For what?
If you mean why its not on the list of albums previously mentioned it is that it is not a core album (or part of the canon); ie released between 1962 and 1970, so Please Please Me thru to Let It Be (including the US LP Magical Mystery Tour which was adopted into the catalogue in 1987) or the compilation Past Masters which gathers together the remaining singles, ep tracks and oddities. Having all of these albums ensures you have all 212 (or whatever it is) songs that The Beatles released when together in the 60’s.
Albums such as Let It Be Naked, Anthology, Love etc are add-ons, great to have and necessary to complete your official Beatles collection of every released song and song variation but remain outside of the core albums.

Mulling over my potential choices. Will request a spreadsheet when I’m further along.
You give every song a 1-10 score, so you’re not really choosing your favorites, you have to score all of them.

Well … I don’t like the non-Naked versions. ;D And I don’t get why there’s Let it Be (Let it Be) and Let it Be (Single). I really don’t hear much of a difference between those two. Although, to be fair, it’s been a while . . . since I found the Naked version I gladly abandoned the others. Couldn’t we just say Let it Be in general? The same with other double listings. I don’t see much sense in giving the same score to basically the same song.
EDIT: And isn’t it also unnecessary to have Abbey Road Medley listed when the songs are listed on their own as well? Or am I just being an ignorant fan?

There must be a better way to do this. IJSAFo – we can probably embed Google Docs in the forum, but it might take a bit of trickery to get it working. Email me if you want to discuss.

I write web applications, so I could probably slap something together that would serve the purpose of letting people vote.
The thing is, based on the original question in the original post, I think we’re after a more binary, on/off, yes/no sort of poll. I can almost guarantee that we won’t reach 100% agreement if we’re ranking each song on a scale, but what would be interesting (to me anyway) is to give each song a “Like it” and “Don’t like it” option.
As was mentioned, some of the songs that appeared on the “Underrated” thread also appear on the “Worst Songs” thread. I wonder if any songs, and which ones, would survive a Yes/No vote with 100% agreement, all “Yes” votes and not a single vote against?
Not a bit like Cagney.

I’ve already got a system that’s working OK, I think.
Are you going to vote?

I’ve asked for a spreadsheet and will “give ‘er a go”.
I just don’t know how much I will help by voting every song a 10 except ‘Revolution 9 ‘.

I don’t think you’ll be giving “Wild Honey Pie ” a 10!
But I would be curious to know how, say, “Tell Me Why ” or “I Should Have Know Better” shake out in the rankings.
At the end of the day, we should be able to come up with a Beatles Bible Forum Top 100 – which boils down roughly to Top 50% and bottom 50%.
(If ivejustseenafaceo is statistically minded, he might even one day tell us which songs have ratings that are bunched together (suggesting uniformity of opinion on this Forum) vs songs with widely disparate scores. Why certain songs inspire both high and low scores could be an interesting discussion.)

Well, forcing myself to go through this exercise has helped me clarify which Beatles songs I like the most. Out of all the ones on IJSAF’s list, the number of 10s (best, to me) came out to 32. Meanwhile, the number of songs I ranked 9 came out to 52. For my purposes here, anything lower than a 9 doesn’t really count, as I am only concerned to focus on the absolute cream of the cream.
It’s remarkable to have this many songs I like this much from any band or artist. I had no idea I liked this many songs, so much. I knew I liked a lot, but not this much.
Now my challenge would be to see if I can refine it further by ranking all my 10s into a “Top 32”, by forcing myself to pick a #1 (etc.). Tentatively, I would anticipate that the #1 would be “Penny Lane “; yet some je ne sais quoi inside me resists taking the plunge… I mean, I don’t want to sacrifice any of the other 10s that way…
The following list is not entirely in alphabetical order, but is in clumps that are alphabetical (due to copy-pasting the Excel table into here):

I went back and altered my numbers, trying to be a bit more objective about some songs than just that i like them a whole lot more. So whilst No Reply is [one of] my favourite track(s) it can’t sit on the same mark as A Day In The Life . Otherwise, in my opinion, the numbering become skewed.
That didn’t stop Hold Me Tight getting a higher mark however.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. ‘Rain ‘ is my favorite, but does that mean it is the best? Could be; because it is awesome, but does it rank with ADITL?
This may be more thought provoking than I was ready for. It’s almost like jury duty. You think it will be easy until you suddenly realize that your opinion decides the fate of someone else. OK, a Beatles song poll is not as life altering as jury duty but you get my point.
Either way, this was a great idea and I am totally on board – should be fun.

I disagree. I think a Beatles fan should do this exercise as impulsively as possible, just “go with your gut”, don’t think too hard about it. Sort of like falling in love or knowing whom you love.

^^ Yeah, that’s how I did. Mostly because of a lack of time to ponder each song for ages, but also because I think my first ”impulse” is the right one for me. Think about it too much and I’ll be changing them all.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

Yeah and then you’ll just stay busy, because your opinion keeps on changing.
I haven’t decided how I am going to do that. Maybe I will just give a mediocre song a 10, just because it’s one of my favourites, but maybe I will compare it to others.
I think I’ll start on it this evening. Seems like quite a hard task though.

That’s how I feel, but I guess I’ll have to be really objective. Ill compare them to each other… This’ll be fun, but so hard at the same time…

Glad to see everyone’s having the same issues.
The difficulty for me is the song whose importance i recognize even though I don’t personally care for it that much. (Example: “Tomorrow Never Knows ” and, for many on the Forum, “Yellow Submarine “). I address that by adding a couple of points to the score I would give solely based on my enjoyment.
Then there are songs that really put me in a great mood and/or bring back great memories even if I recognize their relative lack of merit when analyzed objectively (“Yellow Submarine ” “Tell Me Why ” “It Won’t Be Long ” “Hold Me Tight “…). There, I’m going with my gut and not deducting any points for lack of objective greatness…
Curious to know anyone else’s approach.
