I feel like Blue Jay Way is one of George Harrison ‘s best songs, and is even better than While My Guitar Gently Weeps or Within You Without You . Keep in mind, I think the psychedelicness of Magical Mystery Tour makes it one of the best beatles albums, as well as the level of psychedelicness of I Am The Walrus , Blue Jay Way , and Strawberry Fields Forever makes those few songs works of art. What do you guys think?
This is discussed elsewhere but since you have brought it up here, MMT is not a Beatles album. It is a Capitol compilation of their non-album 1967 releases because EPs didn’t work in the US, let alone double-EPs.
It is probably the best Beatles compilation made during their existence, and most likely the best Capitol compilation, but it scores 0 as a bona fide Beatles album because it isn’t one.

But unlike other Capitol albums, The Beatles gave it their blessing since the 1967 contract forbade Capitol from screwing with the albums without permission so it’s unfair to compare it to say Meet The Beatles or Yesterday And Today.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I agree. Unlike Yesterday and Today, it’s a collection of singles. I don’t think of it as a album, just that, a collection of singles.

The first side is really just the film soundtrack, and the second side is just a bunch of singles that my mind catalogues as filler but are actually really excellent songs. I feel that Magical Mystery Tour was one of the weaker albums, but that’s just me.

I feel the same way, but some of those songs were some of my first favourite Beatles songs, and get me all nostalgic. I was a nostalgic since birth, ya know.

Of course, me too. That interview is so completely brilliant.
I didn’t know the first half of this album existed when I was younger, so it doesn’t mean as much to me as the second half. But I’ve enjoyed the album a lot more since watching Magical Mystery Tour , because now whenever I hear the songs I picture the sequences for those songs from the movie. For instance, I appreciate Blue Jay Way a lot more now that I’ve seen the film; every time I hear it I picture John sawing away at his cello, with the giant cloth sunflower strapped to his chest.

The 2021 Beatles poll is coming soon! Some forum members are agreeing to bring Blue Jay Way up from the bottom of the list like a Helter Skelter ! (don’t get any ideas, ghost of Manson.) We hope it will make at least the top 100. And, honestly, I could listen to the whole “please don’t be long” for hours!
I don’t know if a thread like this already exists, and if it does, please notify me so I could delete it. I just want people to vote for Blue Jay Way .
I’d also like to see Rocky Raccoon higher up on the ranking

Agreed, so many people call BJW creepy, it’s not, it’s just…..atmospheric.
It definitely deserves to be at least in the 90’s!

I think the fact that it is the first Harrison song in an alphabetic list may work against it. Some voters may unconsciously be saving their top marks until they see what’s coming up. I’m with ya @AppleScruffJunior, I will be very happy to see Blue Jay Way land in the 90s That might be a little optimistic, but we’ll see. It may require recruiting every single person in the Fiendish Thingy organization.

I’m just looking at one of those poll lists.
A few songs that ranked above Blue Jay Way and that would clearly be below Blue Jay Way in my list include Love Me Do , Any Time At All , Sun King , I’m Happy Just To Dance With You , Doctor Robert , She Came In Through The Bathroom Window , Mean Mr Mustard , Good Morning Good Morning , Polythene Pam , Don’t Let Me Down , Eight Days A Week , The Word , The End , Twist And Shout and many, many more.
So yeah, you can count on me to push Blue Jay Way . Won’t promise anything, but I guess the 30s or 40s coult be a good choice for it on my list. When and where is the poll going to happen? #BlueJayWayMilitia #Justice4George

Hey MonkMD! I believe @The Hole Got Fixed said he planned to kick off the poll in April or early May. (Btw-digging on the hashtags). There are many Beatle fans that don’t appreciate Blue Jay Way (creepy, monotonous, dissonant psychedelia), so it will be no small task to even break into the Top 100 songs. I wonder how its done on the Sirius XM Beatle Channel polls?

Sun King is probably the only Beatles song I didn’t enjoy to some degree. Haven’t heard it in years.
What’s wrong with Beatles fans? Who can say no to Blue Jay Way when they say yes to let’s say Strawberry Fields Forever ?

Yes – considering the non-canon poll has been dragging a little (more to come on that – don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten!), it might be closer to May or June, but it should, all things considered, start in this half of the year. The good thing about the canon poll is it is much more straightforward, so there shouldn’t be any lengthy delays.

What’s the difference in this case between a canon and non-canon poll?
