In the same article I referenced in this post, the author says that the filming of the Strawberry Fields Forever promotional film and the place where John bought the circus poster that led to the song Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite ! was in Sevenoaks, Kentucky.a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

I feel like putting this link in the comment section on the article.

Just from memory, since I hadn’t listened to the song in many months, I had this sense that the bass line should do a riff at a certain point three times — after:

“last through a hog’s head of real fire”

“Their production will be second to none”

“A splendid time is guaranteed for all”

I felt like the bass should go “walking” down with the notes: D-C-Bb-A.

Well, I listened to the song again, and I was pleased to hear that Paul does exactly that.

However, I hate to say this, since Paul is one of my favorite bassists (vying only with Peter Cetera and Paul Jackson), but I think Paul’s basswork tends to be a bit too busy for the song; almost like he was having too much fun and not doing the song’s nature justice.  I feel the bass should be more stolid and pared down, and not intrude too much with its “modern” sound, with extra connecting notes & excursions up to high notes kept to a minimum.

Not only that, but his live performances recently (example, this concert in Tokyo, 2013) seem to show him playing bass lines even busier (!) than what was on the original Sgt. Pepper ‘s album.
