This took me by surprise but I just happened to play a trailer for an upcoming movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) and the accompanying music is “Because “. It’s the original version with some added edits so it’s surprising it got official approval. I’m not too sure it fits in with the futuristic theme.
The trailer is here:

I don’t think it fit. I the trailer was more about the wonder and amazement of the future it would work better.
Also, based on the trailer, I don’t find the special effects to be really great on the aliens.

Sounds like bits of the song have been changed (not edited but musically changed).
The film looks abysmal.

Doesn’t Jacko’s greedy family own the rights, or something? Just saw All You Need Is Love (silly pop version) used on a commercial a few days ago. Disgusting.

I feel like there hasn’t been a lot of good movies lately. Like sometimes I think ‘It’d be fun to go to the movies,’ then when I look at what’s playing none of the movies sound good enough to go buy an overpriced ticket for.

I think that the apple board (i.e Paul, Ringo, Yoko and Olivia) still have to give their consent for anyone to use Beatle songs.

Its down to Apple for using the actual Beatles recordings, they have to say yes. It’s been happening more often as its in Apple’s aims and objectives to get the younger audience into their music, which is fair enough.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

As a kid, my first exposure to this song was the Alice Cooper version in the 1978 film, Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I found it creepy and quite unsettling, and yet it intrigued me more than any song used in the film. In fact, most of my earliest memories of Beatles songs came from this film (I was 7 years old in 1978). I loved this movie as a kid. I recently saw it again for the first time in many, many years and realize what a travesty it is, not just as a movie, but performances of the Beatles songs as well (aside form Billy Preston’s Get Back , and Robin Gibb performing Oh! Darling ). All these years later, I am still every bit as intrigued with Because (the Beatles version now, of course), and I consistently rank it in my top 10 Beatles songs.
