I personally think that a lot of the songs on Please Please Me sound similar to each other, but that’s probably because they were all recorded at the same time and basically with the same equipment.

For example, songs like A Taste Of Honey and Baby It’s You . Also, Misery and There’s A Place.

I think that Old Brown Shoe and For You Blue both are very similar.

"White Album - My joint-fave Beatles album along with Revolver. They show the two sides of Beatles. Revolver's very controlled - even though it's also very innovative. The White Album's playful and almost ramshackle. It's like a scrapbook kept by a genius. Fantastic stuff."

Can’t Buy Me Love ” and “Another Girl ” have quite a few similarities

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I used to think Hello Goodbye and Getting Better sounded the same and used to get them mixed up all the time.

I don’t know about Beatles songs like other Beatle songs ………I’m sure there are lots. John admitted to using 3 blind mice in a number of his songs form ‘All You Need Is Love ‘ onwards…..’Instant karma’

But I bet loads out there noticed the similarity of the ‘La la liiis’ in Paul’s ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face ‘ and Paul’s ‘The Boxer’

Here they are together…..Making a point Paul?

Haha yeah! “…And on that same subject, John’s very paranoid that you stole his “Goo-goo gajoobs” to use in “Mrs. Robinson”…

Those standard rock ‘n roll songs in general sound very similar. Same beat, same rhythm and often even a very similar melody.

Yeah exactly! I reached the same conclusion by the time I entered my last post above.

@Beatleva, your post helped spur me into figuring out this merge (see post 1 in this thread for the details). In the back of my mind, I was thinking we had two similar threads on this theme. And… I was just thinking about making a post about two song that I think are similar-sounding. So double-whammy to getting myself in gear to figure out the merge.

I’ve been listening to Help ! a lot lately. Every time Dizzy Miss Lizzy has come on, I’ve been thinking I was going to hear the words to Hippy Hippy Shake start in. So I had to compare the two. I don’t think I’m too far out in left field with this one.

And all of this leads to my next post. Meet me over in the “Choosing between two things” in just a bit.

In my innocent youth I always though Ticket To Ride and Day Tripper were similar, both in sound and content, until I realised what the tripper bit was about …
