What about the singles that shouldn't have been? Yellow Submarine is the one that pops to mind. How Eleanor Rigby got only partial acknowledgement is shocking!!

Wasn't “Day Tripper ” the A-side? As far as I can remember, PL/SFF was the first of their “double A-sides.”
EDIT: Either way, I like “We Can Work It Out ” better.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Day Tripper was their first Double A side, followed by Rigby/Submarine and then PL/SFF.

“Rain ” is the obvious one that leaps to mind immediately.
I could be really perverse and claim that I prefer “You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)” to “Let It Be ” but that's not really true! (Now, if it was the full uncut 6 minute take of “…Number” rather than the edited version that appeared on the single…)
Even though I'm not entirely sure what song it is on the B, I GUARANTEE you that I prefer it to “Long And Winding Road”!
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Thank you! I was pretty sure it was either that or “I Me Mine” but was too lazy to look it up. (Even though it would've been a lot less trouble than typing up this explanation, obviously. I never think these things through.)
Another thing that I've wondered: Exactly how did their double-A side singles differ from the normal ones – did the label actually indicate “Side One” on both sides?

That reminds me of a blonde joke:
Q: How do you keep a blonde busy for hours?
A: Write “please flip over” on both sides of a piece of paper.

Except under Capitol, where Penny Lane took the A-side for itself (and got to #1, allowing it to be included on 1).

I agree.
Generally, I think Across The Universe should have been a single, not Lady Madonna , and Something backed with Here Comes The Sun . I'd probably go with All Things Must Pass ahead of any of the other four singles from 1969/70.

No. The US had a policy of listing #1 sides as two separate singles. SFF got to #8
