Paul and John were one of the best song writers of all time. I have one question though. Was their a quote from a song that made you upset or offended you? I can only think of one.
In Don’t let me Down John says ” I’m in love for the first time.” I was upset because if this is about Yoko.. what about Cynthia?! She was his first love, a father of a child, and a happy wife. How could he say he was NOT in love with Cynthia at the time? That makes me sad.
So. Is their any of songs that make you upset?

I feel a little guilty for liking Run For Your Life , and my sister isn’t impressed by the way Norwegian Wood ends (“But she had to work in the morning!”), but other than those two, no.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

No, I think Run For Your Life is genius, and daring. I could obviously see it offending people, but not me.
People need to lighten up.
When I Twish And Shout, it makes the Girl say "What Goes On?", and than I say, "I do this Here, There and Everywhere", and than she finishes by saying "Honey Don't".

Yes, but if my boyfriend talked to me like that, I’d have to dump him.

Oh yes, you definitly would have to, but than you’d have to “Run For Your Life “.

In response to what BeatleBaby18 said, hate to start a debate but I think don’t think John was in love with Cynthia. I mean, sure, he loved her, but he wasn’t in love with her. The only reason they really married was because she was preggers and back in the day, that was what you did. But, with him and Yoko, you can really see the love…
Anyways, Run For Your Life doesn’t necessarily upset me but it’s not exactly pleasant. I’m dating a girl who has an insanely jealous ex right now, and believe me when I say that he’s the definition of this song. He’s in some crazy rehabilitation center right now for threats to her family ever since he found out about me.
Come to think of it, if any songs do upset me it isn’t because of the lyrics, necessarily, but because of the memories and people I associate them with.
Like, last year, this girl I’ve known for a while started suddenly just making everyone fall head over heels in love with her. Not on purpose, but she knew she was doing it, her charm was unending and I was the lucky one who got to be with her. Months later we had a fallout (a misunderstanding, at best, no fights or anything…) and ended up breaking up. Since then, she’s been making my life and the lives of the others who fell for her miserable, and a lot of them are so blinded by her intelligence and sexual appeal that they don’t even see it. Because of her, listening to Sexy Sadie is pretty hard for me. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to it all the way through because of how much it reminds me of her.
And then there was This Boy I was with (who, might I add, looked just like George…) who played me guitar, two songs in particular: Dear Prudence and Something . He always told me that he learned them for me–but I later found he was cheating on me with the aforementioned girl and actually learned them for her! Now, those songs are impossible to listen to. The nostalgia hurts me far too much. It’s funny how these things work out.
In My Life also tugs on my heart. It’s like a flashback sequence running through my mind… and that makes me remember happier times that I only wish to relive.
Shame how other people can ruin amazing music for me…

Truer words were never spoken. Everytime I hear I’m Looking Through You , associated with a young love of mine, I kills me. I never found peace with her, yet. I’m still young.

Offended me? No. I think once my Dad said “I don’t know how you can like those drug-addicts” and I replied “Well Dad, I’m not marrying them”
And funny enough you say that.. I was listening today to “I’m getting better”, when I hear the line “I used to be cruel to my woman I beat her and kept her from the things she loved” I couldn’t help but laugh, because you wouldn’t expect to hear something like that in an optimistic song. It’s like Maxwell’s Silver Hammer . I mean, the Beatles singing about murder? It’s very twisted black sense of humor. Not that I support women beating at all.
And I agree with MadiYasha about Cynthia and John. I think it must be painful for Cynthia to hear that, but well, what can you do?
Ok now Beatles songs that are painful because they bring you sad memories. Very easy : There was a time in my life that listening to Yesterday and The Long And Winding Road was too painful for me. What I did was to listen to them again, and again, and again, until the pain was gone.
And MadiYasha, I hope you can listen to those amazing songs again. Don’t let the b******s get you
Edit: I agree with you Skye about Little Girl’s song. I’ve seen too many jealous guys in my life and no thank you very much…. waaay too creepy.

I think John believed he was in love with Cynthia when he married her. But he was completely miserable after a couple of years of marriage.
He was nothing if not honest, so if he sings “I’m in love for the first time”, you can assume it’s the truth. I also believe him when he sings, “She’s the kind of girl who puts you down when friends are there, you feel a fool,” so I don’t think Cyn is without fault in the collapse of the marriage.
Life isn’t fair and John wasn’t good to Cyn, but he grew into a better man.

Exactly. You know how love is… right when you think you know it, someone walks into your life and makes you understand why everything beforehand didn’t work out.

Yeah, it’s song lyrics like that, having to do with the people in the Beatles’ lives that upset me the most sometimes.
For example, I hated it when George sang about Pattie like “with your long blonde hair and your eyes of blue…” I guess I’m a little possessive about my George.
Maybe if I was (were?) blonde, I’d be okay with it… but I’m not.
I'm in love, but I'm lazy.

If by upset you mean offended – no.
If by upset you mean emotional…well there are a line or two I can think of that get me right here (my hand is over my heart).
However, sharing them with you just means I’d have to hunt you down and kill you (Run For Your Life ?) and I’m just too plain lazy to do that anymore.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Yeah, mine's almost black too – it's very VERY dark brown. That's probably one of the reasons why I like Olivia better than Pattie, too.

I'm confused.
But in response to the original question, I don't like “Run For Your Life ” and “Why Don't We Do It in the Road?” for (hopefully) obvious reasons. Every time John sings, “Everybody had a wet dream,” I think, “TMI, John. TMI.” But I love his vocal too much, so I just have to forgive him.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Notice my signature.
When my friends would start talking about dreams or whatever, I would always say, “You know, last night I had a wet dream, guys,” because of “I've Got A Feeling”, of course.
I didn't know what it meant at the time, but now that I do, I say it ALL THE TIME 🙂
