“The Beatles were huge for me. Without them, I don’t know if I even would have become a musician or a guitar player. When their hits started coming out, I was 8 and 9 years old and it had a tremendous impact on me. I saw the movie “A Hard Day’s Night ” multiple times when it came out and I always loved that song. It is kind of impossible to imagine doing a record like this without including at least one Beatles song.”

I this song, it’s very special to me. I remember hearing it on Pandora sometime in early 2014 and falling in love with it, and deciding I had to get A Hard Day’s Night . It was quite an important step in my falling-back-into-Beatlenania.
It was the second Beatles song I learned to play on guitar, as well.

I used to not like this song that much but it grew on me.

It’s odd because I don’t really have an opinion about this song. I’ve heard it so many times I’m not sure if I like it or not although regardless of that it obviously is a good song in terms of its tune and lyrics.

I noticed something odd whilst listening to this on repeat last night: the tempo slows considerably as the song progresses. It starts out quite hurried, but then slows down sometime around the second verse (coincidentally, where the lead guitar comes in). It’s unnoticeable when you listen to it, but if you get to that bit and put it back to the beginning, you’ll hear it.

I’ve always found the single -> double tracked vocal mix to be weird compared to the complete double tracked more common mix. There is more an emptiness and oddity to the former and I have no idea why it was allowed to be used on the US mono ‘AHDN ‘ soundtrack or in the film.
As for the track itself I’ve always liked it, thanks in no small way to its appearance in ‘A Hard Day’s Night ; seeing George miming the solo was great and sound of his guitar parts is just beautiful, especially underneath Paul’s singing in the second and fourth verses. George really was the one who turned this from a good song to a fabulous one – just listen to the difference in take 2.

No, I don’t want to. I’ve already scarred my brain once before, and that was enough for a lifetime.

I dont mind the outtake but its far inferior to the final product. At the very least its interesting due to how different it was and how much it evolved in the studio. Better that some minor variation which adds little of note. Its great that we also got a live electric rendition on the BBC which gives the song a very different feel – and again shows its far better as an acoustic number.

Now that one was okay, I don’t mind it– at least they were sort of emulating the record– but of course I do prefer the acoustic version.
