A-ha, I found this thread!
I just felt like voicing my undying love for this song. It’s so sweet and sentimental, ahhhhhh…
I would say more, but honestly that’s all I have to say.
Definitely my favorite Beatles song
A lot more innocent time. Pure Beatles escapism. And very poignant when you know where it played on December 8, 1980.

A great colourisation of their performance of this song from the Morecambe and Wise Show has been uploaded to YT by Kitsu Beatles on their channel (done with the help of Alex Alonso). Filmed at ATV’s Elstree Studio Centre on 2 December 1963, it wasn’t broadcast until 18 April 1964.Who knows how long it will stay up? Looks fantastic though.
As the technology to do such things becomes more available, amateurs are often outdoing the professionals on getting it right.
The Kitsu Beatles channel is uploading some good stuff at the minute, they were also behind the upgraded Rishikesh footage I posted elsewhere a few days ago, and so is well worth a look and keeping track of to see what’s next.
Nice video … interesting that only George is singing backing vocals, did he sing them on the record. Frustrating that they cut to Ringo during the guitar solo although it maybe wasn’t the best guitar solo ever?!

George did sing backing vocals along with John on the recording.

Daily Beatles Song Review Day 21/213 All My Loving
This is my second favorite of the tracks on With the Beatles, and my favorite of the original Lennon-McCartney compositions. This is primarily a Paul-written song and is often considered one of the best early examples of his songwriting, to which I fully agree. The song is also fascinating historically in that, according to Paul, it was the first song he ever wrote lyrics-first, and one of the only ones he ever wrote that way. That’s interesting, because it isn’t a lyrical song at all, it’s just a pretty standard Beatles love song. That isn’t to say it’s bad or even underwhelming though, because the energy of the song doesn’t require lyrics to sustain it.
I am never good at describing melody, but this song’s melody is fantastic. It starts and stops and speeds up and down at all the right parts. It also goes perfectly with the instrumentation, which is some of the best on the album. Again, Ringo is absolutely killing it, and showing why I think With the Beatles is a much better showing for him than Please Please Me was. I think the twin guitar parts from John and George are great, and the tone of them are each perfect for the track. Paul’s bass isn’t super prominent, but it’s there a tiny bit. It’s not amazing, but it works well for what the song is.
Score: 8/10.
Favorite cover: Here’s a good cover by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, who are pretty well known for covers.
