Mod note: go to https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..g-on-ahdn/ for the official AHDN song ranking thread.
I’ll take my next challenge: ranking every songs from A Hard Day’s Night . The results of the ranking depends on each song’s melody and catchiness. This will be “a hard day’s rank” and I would be very interested in hearing your opinion.

What’s with the reverse order…? Is that a Euro thing (like the metric system)?
Anyway, here’s my list, with 1 = best, on top:

7) I’m Happy Just To Dance With You
9) Tell Me Why
10) I’ll Be Back
11) I’ll Cry Instead
12) When I Get Home

After I finished my list, I listened to each song from “worst” to best to check if my ears could feel the songs “getting better” and it did in a way, so I’m satisfied with my list so far.

It is not a Euro thing. It is a common way of presenting these types of lists, even in America. Take a look at Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 best Beatles songs. It starts at 100 and works its way up to 1. And while things like the weekly music charts may be presented in numerological order, any radio or TV show I have ever heard/seen presenting the week’s chart works it’s way toward the Number 1, and doesn’t start with it.

I can see (pun intended) how an oral presentation like on radio would start last and work up (i.e. down) to the first; but when presented visually it seems to make more sense to have #1 on top, like a mountaintop.
