Once more: Joe, what about the new book you got?? Does it say something about it?
Ah right, you mean That Magic Feeling by John C Winn. He says it’s Paul, recorded on 3 February. He claims it was recorded at the same time as the ‘Woke up, fell out of bed’ section. “Paul then corrected his vocal blunder by taping a new vocal on track 2, also adding some soaring ‘aahs’ over the circle-of-fifths segment that linked back to the final verse.”
Walter Everett, in The Beatles As Musicians, says: “On February 3, Lennon and McCartney punched in new vocals for the bridge and retransition on Track 2 (and a good bit of cavorting can be heard in the background here), new bass and drum parts were added to Track 3, and McCartney added a bit more piano to Track 4.”

You seem very keen to cherrypick your evidence. Examples that back up your point of view are held up as truthful, whereas ones that disagree with your initial hypothesis are questioned or dismissed (the Everett one actually seems to be saying Paul did the bridge and John did the transition).
Would any evidence whatsoever convince you otherwise? If Paul, George M, Ringo, or anyone else said it was John, would you dismiss them for having lousy memories? I think it’s important to be open minded in these matters.
Yes, the Winn book seems accurate, though I haven’t read it in detail. The Everett book is perhaps more detailed in its examinations, and was used by Winn as a source.
Anyway, I’m bored of this discussion now.

Everett doesn’t mention backing vocals. He says John and Paul “punched in new vocals for the bridge and retransition”. This ties in with Emerick’s recollection that the vocal parts were done separately. “Punched in” refers to dropping in an overdub into a previously-recorded section, as described by Emerick.
Everett includes some notation markers for the Complete Beatles Score, a book that I don’t have. I presume the bridge to be “Woke up, fell out of bed” and the transition to be the “aah” bit.

Even if you're right, paulsbass, you're certainly wrong to claim that there is “no doubt” that Paul is singing – there is obviously PLENTY of doubt, that's why this thread exists! I have no doubt that you trust your own ears, and what you hear is what you hear, and that's fine. But the same goes for the rest of us, and we aren't convinced.
Of course you are right, I simply forgot to insert “no doubt FOR ME”. Even total Beatle experts like Joe are not sure, so it's really not that easy.If you check my posts, you'll see that I wrote something along that line before.
Right you are, Mr. Bass! I should've read further and less carelessly. And you DID say “…FOR ME”, so I've even less excuse.
And, uh, I've been listening extra-close, and I think you may be right after all. But really, I'm all confused now – actually sounds like Paul & John's voices morphing throughout.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Now we know how the love child of Paul and John would have sounded… if they could have had one.

It's never sounded like anything other than John's voice doing those aahhs to me.
I'll have to agree on that one.
PS– Do you know what is AWESOME? Listening to the song, then cranking the volume all the way up for the final piano chord.
(BEWARE: ONCE YOU CANNOT HEAR THE CHORD, IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU TURN THE VOLUME BACK DOWN. [Or else the high-frequency tone will MURDER your ears. And if that doesn't do it, the “Who's your daddy? Number one,” (that's my name for it) will do it.] Enjoy!)

On a completely (well, almost completely) unrelated topic, during the second orchestral buildup, I can hear someone counting. Would that be our friend Mal Evans? I know they had him count out the bars when they didn't know what to do for those sections.

I believe so… Paul or someone stated that on Anthology 6, I think? I'm probably wrong about the show, but I know I'm not on the counting; here's proof Mal Evans is credited for vocals!
I'm in love, but I'm lazy.

Yeah, that was my experience exactly last time I listened extra extra close…and that was after insisting it was John multiple times!
Now I'm so confused, I've just convinced myself I really don't care anymore. I refuse to give it another thought. Until the next time I happen to hear the song. Or until the next time I intentionally play it myself. Or until the next time this thread is updated.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Actually c64, I think that's the answer.
Man, this is material for a short story related with the Beatles. Umb.. interesting.. a couple that fight because they can't decide who sings, John or Paul….
