I dont mind IATM in the YS movie, that its only a 2 1/2 minute edit helps a lot. Never understood why Hey Bulldog was cut, apart from length.
Dont Pass Me By is a great song, one of Ringos best, heck its better than Good Night .

By the time it appears at the end of the Yellow Submarine movie, I’m thinking, “yeah, it’s all to much.”
THAT’s the song that should have been edited out of the American version of the movie – not “Hey Bulldog “
NOOOOO! I love “It's All Too Much!”
"Now and then, though, someone does begin to grow differently. Instead of down, his feet grow up toward the sky. But we do our best to discourage awkward things like that."
"What happens to them?" insisted Milo.
"Oddly enough, they often grow ten times the size of everyone else," said Alec thoughtfully, "and I’ve heard that they walk among the stars."

Not a big fan of Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill <- continues for far too long, Piggies , and Run For Your Life .
I like Don't Pass Me By a bunch Ringo's best song, Imo.

Awww! I love that song… but I do agree that Hey Bulldog should have stayed in the U.S version the movie.

For me, every Beatles song has something in it that makes it (at least a bit) enjoyable…
except for one:
I Wanna Be Your Man .
It's just utterly bad, in my opinion. Painful and idiotic in all ways.
It was a good thing to give it to the Rolling Stones, but not to record it themselves.

Yeah, that's a pretty dumb song. But I've always thought it was a good performance nonetheless, frugging along nicely thanks to the maracas and Hammond burbling. I'll still take it over the Stones version, despite the great noisy lead guitar Keith (Brian?) laid overtop it.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Aww. I pesonally like that song. It's not one of my favorites, though. Same with It's All Too Much.

I Wanna Be Your Man is pretty harmless – in the Love Me Do mode.
If legend is true, it was written rather spontaneously and instantly passed on to the Stones (that would be Brian Jones on lead). It does have that Bo Diddley rhythm that sets it apart.

… and speaking of “It's All Too Much,” I met Al Brodax the producer a few years back. I asked him why “Hey Bulldog ” was cut. The movie was considered to be too long for American audiences (I would agree with that), so it was decided to cut out a song from the end of the movie. Of the four Beatles, Brodax was closest to George; therefore, my feeling is that no George song was going to be cut. Exit “Hey Bulldog .”
When I first bought the Yellow Submarine album, I wondered where on earth this great Hey Bulldog song was coming from.

Interesting to know the reason for the Hey Bulldog cut, thanks ITSKD. Tho i find Hey Bulldog to be one of the best scenes and the sound effects really add to the song.

I agree about Hey Bulldog . It's a great song and I believe they should have left it in the movie. So what if the movie's about 4 minutes longer.

All You Need Is Love is the only Beatle song that I honestly can't stand.I don't think I've ever listened to it all the way through.

Same. I REARLY listen the All You Need Is Love , Hey Jude , Yesterday …. I feel like they are the only Beatles songs that my friends know or they are the most popular. To be honest, I think that Yesterday is overrated. Yeah, it's a great song and it's been covered about 2000 times but because it's so well known, I'd rather not listen to it. Here are some of my not so favourite songs:
- Wild Honey Pie (Come on, who genuinely likes that number?)
- Matchbox (Ringo's voice sounds like it's been over dubbed so many times)
- Don't Pass Me By
- Only A Northern Song

I might add “Birthday .” Maybe it isn't that horrible of a tune, but it's tremendously overplayed. Would recommend radio stations that continue playing it prior to announcing birthdays, to lose their broadcasting licenses immediately.

Funny you should mention that. When I hear it while playing the White Album , I think it rocks. If I hear it on the radio I cringe.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I personally just do not like any of the Beatles songs that use a Sitar, with the only exception being Norwegian Wood . I'm just not a fan of that sound, it sounds creepy to me. The best song I have ever heard using the Sitar instrument is Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones. Brian Jones played that one well.

GlassOnionArchitecture, ditto “Norwegian Wood ” and “Paint It Black.” PIB is one of the two best Stones song, IMHO (the other being Gimme Shelter)
