OK, you know how these days a lot of performers are performing their “classic album” in its entirety when they tour? Well, let's imagine that Paul does that himself, and performs Pepper's, and (of course) records the show and plans to retitle it something like “Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Stadium Band”…and, thrillingly, he removes all the faces from the new cover, and invites US to choose our OWN candidates!
Which is, of course, an extremely long-winded way of asking the simple question: Who would YOU include on the cover? Choose up to three.
I choose…
Bobby Orr (hockey legend)
John Coltrane (jazz tenor-saxophone legend)
Theodore Seuss Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss!)
9+9!! Never had that before.
The following people thank vonbontee for this post:
penny laneGEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.
James Joyce
Gruff Rhys
Joe Meek
(Can I suggest a rule? Nobody from the original cover, and no Beatles connections – otherwise it’ll just be an endless round of George, Brian and Mal. Feel free to disagree though.)

George Martin, Brian Epstein and Mal Evans.
On a serious note, I'll go for a mixture of genuinely iconic figures and slightly cult ones.
Robin Friday- “The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw” and the man who, according to Super Furry Animals, “Don't Give A F**k”.
JK Rowling- Harry Potter is the closest thing my generation have had to the Beatles.
Roger Waters- 'nuff said.
Jimi Hendrix- 'nuff said
Syd Barrett- more there for “cult” reasons than his talent.
L. Ron Hubbard- founder of scientology
Steven Moffat- my favourite TV writer, responsible for the best episodes of Doctor Who since its revival and some Sherlock.
Wesley Willis- chronic schizophrenic repetitive punk rocker.
Gio Compario- just to annoy people
Rebecca Black- as above
Tijinder Singh- my favourite active musician, and he's Indian, which would please George.
A Pikachu
Sarah Palin- because she is a genuine inspiration
Darth Vader
Franz Kafka
Richey Edwards- missing lyricist for the Manic Street Preachers
Heath Ledger
David Mitchell and Robert Webb
Reginald D. Hunter
David Attenborough
Robert Winston
Andrew Flintoff
The Stig
Terry Pratchett
Woody
Buzz Lightyear
Douglas Adams
Okay, that's incredibly male dominated (nly one serious female nomination), so I'll add the pink Power Ranger, Margret Thatcher, Lisa Simpson (and for that matter Homer Simpson), Joni Mitchell and Tracey Emin.

An awesome thread – very thought provoking.
Right off the bat, I'm going to say Barack Obama (not a big fan but he did make history), Pablo Picasso (see Band On The Run ) and MLK.
I like Joe's ground rule suggestion above. I will break it once though by suggesting the Beatles' offspring (Julian, Sean, etc…).

Great question!!
Damn Walrus you mentioned some of my choices.. darn it… well here are my choices : Simone De Beauvoir, Milan Kundera and Frida Kahlo.
BTW Zig, there’s a Sgt Pepper cover with Beatles kids : Sean replacing John, Stella replacing Paul, Zak replacing Ringo and Dhani replacing George. Here it is.

Thanks, mith! I especially liked this replacement idea from the link you shared…
14. Cutting-edge beat poet Bob Dylan replaced by a crustier but still cool Bob Dylan.

Hahahaha!
The only famous people I know are Beatles people, but last year we had a class project in multimedia where we had to make a collage of all our classmates. I chose to replace the Sgt. Pepper heads with my classmates' heads. It was epicly amazingly awesome.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.
