I just ordered Ringo’s birthday cake. I’ll take a picture of it for you all when I pick it up Saturday. I’ll have to email it to one of you to put on the forum for me.
@Expert Textpert, is it Saturday yet?
Now we just have to figure out how to get the cake to Ringo!
Four more days!!
Overnight it to me and I’ll give it to him tomorrow night!

You’re Uncle or just Ringo?
@meanmistermustard, Ringo is my uncle
Seriously, my uncle drove 800km to visit, got here Sunday, he, mom, myself, and a friend are seeing Ringo Wednesday, and I’m psyched about both . I’m really close to this uncle, he’s only 15 years older than me.
Uncle Bruce and I are also going to see AHDN on Sunday. He’s a huge Beatles fan too – we saw Paul together last year. We have hopes of making a UK Beatles pilgrimage in the next couple years.
I’m going to try to take video and make a YouTube or two…the picture will be faraway, no zoom, but hopefully the audio will be alright. I’ve never made a YouTube before.

@Matt Busby. Sounds like you have a good time ahead of you with family and Beatles coming together. Enjoy. And good luck with your youtube video. Remember to let us about your trip to see Ringo.

Have fun tonight, Matt Busby. Sounds like a great time to be had with your uncle.
Can’t wait to see the cake, AG! If it is an ice cream cake, you may have answered ExTex‘s question about how to get the cake to Ringo. Just tell the guy at the door that you MUST get it to him before it melts. You can really lay it on thick by saying something like “if this cake melts, Ringo will NOT be happy” – then turn to ExTex and say “remember the guy at the door for the Chicago fiasco? I wonder if he is out of the hospital yet”.

I had my tickets for the San Jose show, but I had a family emergency, and now I have 3 tickets I don’t know what to do with them.
I have tried to sell them everywhere, but it looks like there will be 3 empty seats in the VIP section of that show. 🙁
I don’t even want to make a profit out of them. I just want someone to be able to enjoy the show.
Do you guys have any more ideas as to where I could go to try to sell?

Considering how health conscious Ringo is i hope it is a healthy one to eat – and meets his dietary requirements, don’t want him opening up a tin of Heinz Baked Beans and sticking the candles in that.

There is a site called stubhub (owned by ebay) that has a Ringo section (there may be others out there). That may be your best bet, otherwise its cutting your losses as there are plenty of tickets still available for the show.

I’m so pissed – I left my phone at home on the charger, so no YouTubes
We all enjoyed the show very much. The seats were much better I than I thought – about 12th row, not too far to the side.
I waited until a quiet time and shouted out “happy birthday!”. He heard me! I got a pat on the back and a couple “good jobs” from nearby members of the audience. Ringo didn’tseem so excited, but it might have been his deadpan sense of humor. He replied “yeah, my birthday is coming up…now that we’ve gotten that over with…”.
Something cool he did was – there was a 5yo girl in the front row holding up a sign. Ringo went over, got the sign, read it to the audience and showed it to us. He hugged the girl, told her she was beautiful. Then he said “before you start lining up, I only do that to 5 year olds.”.
A good time was had by all. Great concert for sure. from my 76yo mother to me (51).

Aw, that’s so sweet, and I love his sense of humor. Good for you being heard, Matt! I’m so excited to see him Monday at his birthday celebration, and then again at the concert!
Glad you had a great time. You possibly had a better time without worrying about taking video. Thanks for sharing.

What birthday celebration is this that you’re going to see him at, @parlance? Maybe I need to review this topic…
And you’re right, worrying about taking the video is a pain (I’ve tried it a couple times before). Still, it would be nice to have a couple songs to remember it by. I’m sure the bootleg will be out soon enough though.

Good to hear you had a great time and a reply from Ringo too. Parlance is correct, without faffing about trying to record bits of the show you can enjoy it far more.
A bootleg recording will come out eventually and it wouldn’t surprise me if someone posts footage of the night on youtube at some point.

A couple details about the show follow, that I feel might spoil it for some, so I spoiled it
One highlight (for me) was Don’t Pass Me By – whereas my mother disliked it (I don’t think she remembered ever hearing the song before).
Of course Photograph was great. In general they really jammed throughout the show. I guess that’s what happens when you have high quality players at every instrument.
Todd Rundgren can flat out sing and play, albeit rhythm guitar (except he did jam a lead in one song).
Richard Page plays a 5 string bass, when he plays bass. He’s got a great voice too.

Ok, one more interesting thing happened. There were two couples near the center front, dancing (vibrating at a high rate of speed) the entire concert nonstop. To introduce one of his songs, Todd said “This one’s for you [and pointed at them]. Yes you, the ones on ecstasy!”

I called the venue. There’s no way to get the cake to Ringo so I cancelled the order. Oh, well. It was a fun idea while it lasted. What I had planned was
A peace symbol and a heart side-by-side
&
Happy Birthday
Ringo
(Thus, peace, love, and happy birthday)
