Sad news: I can’t go see Ringo on Sunday.
Although I don’t live near the Providence area, we assumed we’d be there for other reasons and thought that it’d be smart to get tickets there so we could go, although there was always a possibility we wouldn’t make it.
We (being my family) are trying to move to the Northeast and hoped we’d be there by now. Due to some setbacks, and the fact that it’d be stupid to spend money on tickets to fly there and back only to be moving soon, when money is obviously needed, we’re staying. I’m sending the tickets to some friends who live in MA, so at least they’ll have fun.Who knows, maybe I can teach some guitar lessons and save enough extra money to get tickets in CA and fly there. I’m just way too optimistic though as that’s highly unlikely (are all the shows sold out yet?). All I can say is that he better be touring in 2015, because I really want to see him live.
I’ll just be looking forward to DrBeatle’s pictures and stories from everyone who’s going. Zig’ll have a story to tell us. I’m sure he loved the show!
Aw, bummer, Mr. Kite! Hoping you will be able to move up this way soon and also that you’ll be able to catch Ringo soon!
I’m waiting for @Zig to report back on his show…how was it?

I hate giving info about myself, but I’ll be moving pretty close to you…
And Zig! We are all eagerly waiting a report whenever you get on! Did Ringo rock so hard you’re still sleeping? That could be a possibility.

Mr. Kite – sorry you can’t go to the Providence show. Don’t pay attention to the spoiler below- the show sucked. Be glad you can’t make it.
Sorry it took so long to report back, but Ringo was Fabulous on Tuesday night (10 June). The only others I knew from his band were Todd Rundgren and Gregg Rolie – the rest I could not have cared less about. Either way, the band was very good.
When he wasn’t out front singing, Richy was on the kit being brilliant and wonderful. I can only recall about 3 songs during which he was not on stage. My brother and I took advantage of those times to make beer runs! Since we were only 11 rows from the stage, it was quite cool being that close to a Beatle, but my biggest thrill was watching/listening to his drumming. Ringo seemed to be overflowing with energy. I don’t know if that is due to the tour being in its infancy or just good clean living (these days, anyway). That was great to see – he looked like he was having a blast.
It appears a set list has been posted here. I am not one who jots these things down during shows or commits it to memory, but it looks pretty complete and I can’t recall any songs that were not on the list.
The crowd was electric (especially since most of us in attendance knew Thomas Edison first hand) and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. I am so happy that my first Beatley concert took place at the same venue as my first ever concert. If you get a chance to see him please do. Just don’t tell Mr. Kite. I told him the show sucked.

Thanks for posting that. I wish I could have been a flash of electricity on the wires when Ringo was talking to Paul on the phone.
I am so excited about seeing Ringo! I bet I am going to love his new cd.

Change in plans. Mr. Ahhh Girl isn’t going to the concert. @Expert Textpert has offered the extra ticket to a friend of his. I hope he can get off work and go with us.

Yes indeed! Tonight’s the night! The only thing marring it is knowing that I have to catch a 6am flight tomorrow morning for a business trip that was sprung on me late Thursday afternoon :-(…I’m gonna be a tired (but happy!) boy!

This show is still happening! You can pretend you’re there!
Once again don’t watch if you don’t want to! (But I think you will!)

Great review DrB!
It was as if I wrote it myself after the 10 June Albany show, right down to the venue. It seems the Albany Palace Theatre and the Providence Performing Arts Center have much in common in terms of ambience and acoustics. Here are a couple of interior shots of The palace.
Glad you enjoyed it – I had an incredibly great time.

Oooo, thank you for the report, @DrBeatle! As if I weren’t already excited enough, now I can’t wait for July 5th.
I will be one of the people at that show who has Ringo’s latest album, and I can’t wait for the next one.
You made this comment in your report: “Ringo will never be confused for Paul or anyone else when it comes to songwriting or having an acclaimed back catalog, and he knows that.” Oh, but I Ringo’s music. I see all the cool songs he has helped write over the years, and I smile, and smile, and smile. I adore his voice. As I mentioned in a thread somewhere, his voice is right in my comfort zone.

^you’ll have a great time, for sure!
What I meant by that comment is that no one is (or should be) necessarily going to his concerts expecting an experience like you get when you see Paul, or Pete Townshend, or Ray Davies, or any other acclaimed songwriter of that generation. But what you do get is a GREAT band playing loads of awesome songs. I’m a big original-Santana fan so those songs were great, but I even loved the Toto, Mr. Mister, and Rundgren songs they played and I only know those from the radio over the decades because I’m not a fan. It was that good.
