…now don't get excited folks! The title may not present as hopeful a topic as you'd hoped.
We all know that there is limited information about our dear Richie, and I was browsing some previous topics stating that he'd been to rehab and all that. We don't know much about him today or about his past in depth- he was in love with both Maureen and Barbara, he still wishes for good will and peace, and he has two known tattoos.
I was just wondering- why the lack of information while his Beatle brothers have taken the bare-all route? Do you think it's personal demons that he would rather push back? Or simply a need for privacy? I would most likely trust the latter- I would just love to know more about dear Ringo.
The following people thank Sun Queen for this post:

I recall seeing an article, that I can't seem to find, stating that he finds it easier to write songs about his past. I had the impression that it was a little more than just wanting privacy. But, who knows?
Also, I got a book called Postcards from the Boys by Ringo. I'll check it again and see if there's anything worth knowing.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

I learnt that postmen in the 1960s and 70s were very honest people. If I was delivering those postcards to Ringo's house I'd have nicked the lot
Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon

OK Ringo fans don't shoot the messenger, because I love him like a brother. I think the reason why we don't hear as much about him as we do the others is there really isn't much to tell.
In watching the Anthology DVD's there are at least 2 occasions I can think of that bear that out (there could be more).
1 – While discussing what they all did on their extended 'holiday' before the Pepper sessions, Paul talked about working on a movie soundtrack w/George Martin, George was in India and John was in Spain for the filming of How I Won the War. What did Ringo do? He visited John in Spain. I have to assume he did more than that, but was it at all noteworthy?
2 – While discussing the roles each held in the Apple venture, Paul said (paraphrasing here) “well, I was involved in this, John did that and George focused on the other. I really don't know what Ringo did.” To which Ringo replied (again paraphrasing), “I wasn't as involved as the others.”
You can count me among those who would really like to know more about him – I just don't know how much there is. Even listening to him speak, I get the impression that he was very content to play his drums with his best mates and stay away from the limelight / madness that was everything else going on.
Thoughts?
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Ringo has a terrible inferiority complex. A part of me just says that he doesn't write a biography because he feels no one would really care to read it.
WHICH ISNT TRUE OF COURSE.
Of course not! I'll love to read about him, specially when when he was in the other group and the first years with the Beatles.
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

I bet some were nicked. Postmen have daughters and girlfriends.

Thats probably true. I don't think there are any deep dark secrets – I just want to see things from his point of view.

Absolutely – I enjoyed his POV in Anthology and would love to hear more.

He couldn't even be bothered to choose any personal heroes to add to the Sgt. Pepper cover collage! “Whatever the others choose is fine with me.” The man's an enigma.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I didn't know some of that about him, thanks.
Just like when non-Beatles fans think of The Beatles, they think of John Lennon , Paul McCartney , George Harrison , and that “underrated” drummer, so people arn't looking into his personal life, and perhaps its because he wants privacy.
When I Twish And Shout, it makes the Girl say "What Goes On?", and than I say, "I do this Here, There and Everywhere", and than she finishes by saying "Honey Don't".

I partially disagree- I think he has the most well-known name when it comes to naming the Beatles.
When I tell people who my favourite band is, they're always quick to reply, “Oh! I love that Ringo.” I think the unusual persona-name is something people remember and associate with the Beatles, but you're right, people aren't looking into his personal life.

That happened a lot to me too. Who couldn't like Ringo? Even John spare him with his crazy and cruel jokes.

Please don't emotionally beat me down for this, I love Ringo more than Paul and George combined, but mabey he thinks he is'nt as good looking as the other ones. I mean if you were a guy who was surrounded by better looking guys almost 24/7 365 days a year you would probably have a very poor inferiority complex too. Don't get me wrong I think he cute, in his own special way.

You sound like my mom:
Mom: You know, I think Ringo ends up the butt of jokes because he's not as good-looking as the other three.
Me: What are you talking about? Ringo's ADORABLE.
Mom: Yeah, but the others are supernaturally good-looking.
Me: You've got a point there. But Ringo's still adorable.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

BEATLES – STARR WON'T WRITE MEMOIRS
BEATLES
legend RINGO STARR refuses to write an autobiography, insisting
publishers would only be interested in the book if it included stories
about the late JOHN LENNON.The Fab Four's drummer – real name Richard
Starkey – turns 70 this summer (Jul10) but he won't be marking the
landmark age by recalling his life's events for his memoirs. He says, “I
have no intention of ever writing a book.
People will offer you money as long as you tell them what John Lennon
was really like. I could do 12 volumes about my life before I ever got
into the band. I have more life than that but they only want to know
about that one.”But Starr insists fans can gain insight into his life by
listening to his music, adding, “(Songwriting is) better for me than
doing it in a book. In two lines I can say what would take five pages.”
