As with It Don’t Come Easy, it’s credited to Ringo alone, and recorded by him and George.
Starr – lead vocal, drums, acoustic guitar, piano
Harrison – electric guitars, bass, backing vocal
It has been claimed that George was more heavily involved in their writing than the songwriting credit acknowledges however. I believe Harrison home demos of both exist. There is an argument that George demoed them because he wrote them. My view is that he was probably working through ideas for the recording of them before the session.

This has also been my view for what it is worth. Then again, I recall that early song where there is a “Lennon, McCartney, Starkey” credit (?”What Goes On “) and Ringo says he added in about 5 words

Based on the fact that we know Ringo’s musical limitations and that George’s home demos for both songs exist, there is no doubt in my mind that George wrote these but allowed Ringo to claim sole credit. He pretty much did the same for Octopus’ Garden, as well.

I don’t believe George wrote those songs entirely. Having home demos doesn’t mean he wrote them entirely, it just means he demoed them at home. You can record anything at home. I do think he collaborated with Ringo on It don’t come easy and on Octopus’ Garden, but I don’t believe he wrote Early 1970. It’s very simple. Even I could’ve written it. Okay, maybe not, but you get the point. You don’t need to be George Harrison to be able to write something like that.
Coming back at It Don’t Come Easy and Octopus’ Garden, I also don’t think George really entirely wrote either of them. I think George may have helped out with the arrangement and perhaps a few words, but I think most of it was written by Ringo himself.

That’s another great one. And there are probably a few others, but I was strictly talking about the songs that were mentioned. They were quite a great songwriting duo actually, weren’t they?
Indeed – and George produced a few of the early singles / songs too – so a very nice combination.

Ringo’s voice actually sounds the most like the music/singers I grew up with. I find the familiarity comforting. It’s time for me to get some Ringo cds.It is indeed – and if you only get one the 2007 “Photograph” hits CD is just plain awesome – particularly if you can find the version with the bonus DVD of video clips.
I just ordered Photograph.
From the Amazon Marketplace, I also order Beaucoups of Blues (with shipping $9.82). I grew up on country-music-sounding music so I think I will like this one. I went ahead and ordered Y Not. I mean why not for $6.58 including shipping.

^ That’s a nice selection. I had “Blues” on LP years ago but wasn’t much into country back then – let me know what you think, since I have been listening a lot to Neil Young I think my tastes have developed and I might well like Ringo’s effort more nowadays.
And I agree, why not? It’s nice to get a recent record, and Ringo’s voice is much as ever – I may have noted elsewhere here that if “Walk With You” was released when folks were still buying ex-Beatle singles this one would have been top 5.

A bit off topic, my mother-in-law just ordered the John Lennon Signature Box set for me for Christmas. I won’t get it until Christmas, but that’s ok. I need to round out my collection with some George.

On the way to @Expert Textpert’s this past Saturday, I was listening to Early 1970. At the end of the line
With his mama by his side, she’s Japanese
I heard some muffled words I couldn’t quite understand/make out. I said to myself, “Well, that’s interesting. I never heard those Japanese words in the song before.”
Then a split second later I realized it was my GPS telling me it was time to turn. So I turned down the music to make sure I went the right direction.

HA! It doesn’t.
Hopefully @Expert Textpert will tell you all what my GPS sounds like. His wife was really good at imitating it.

We decided she would use the directions she located using her phone instead of using my satnav. She was calling out the directions imitating the voice I have selected for my satnav. It was hilarious!
