Just a miscellaneous thing.
Some stories about the Palm Cockatoo playing “rhythm” have mentioned Ringo.
Here’s a video about the bird playing.

And the question is?
Shouldn’t the above be in the Ringo Appreciation thread?

But this thread isn’t “Miscellaneous things about Ringo Starr “, it’s “Miscellaneous QUESTIONS about Ringo Starr “.
I see no question.

This thread looks like it needs a Ringo Starr question and i have just the one.
Was Ringo against the release of Carnival Of Light or was it all George?
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

In the Anthology Ringo says he took off the “key” and added an extra r but I don’t think he said why. I too am curious to know the answer to this question. If I had to guess it would be because he thought it sounded more unique/Western. But I don’t really know
@Ron Nasty … would you happen to know the answer?

I believe he made the change at holiday camp in Butlins with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes… and I remember once taking an online quiz that asked why he changed his name. I clicked “because he wore rings all the time” but it said the answer was “because he thought it sounded like a cowboy name.” you can’t always trust these things though…

Was Ringo ambidextrous or lefty?
In an interview I heard him say he was left handed, but sometimes drummed primarily with his right hand to achieve a certain sound. Something like that.

Ringo Starr: He’s great. Especially his poetry.

I’ve heard multiple times that he was a lefty, and he played on a right handed drum set to get the sound.

He was a left-handed drummer who learnt a right-handed kit because he didn’t know left handed ones exist, and also because he didn’t have the resources to get one. Eventually he learnt of left-handed kits, but liked the unique sound too much of playing a right-handed kit to swap.
At least, that’s what I’ve heard.

Ringo contributed backing vocals during the last (roughly) minute-and-a-half vamped section of the song (Paul always has loved a vamped section…).
It was recorded later and tagged on… (starts at the beginning of vamped section, you can see Ringo reinacting his backing vocals):

Well, regarding his father, here’s what Ringo said about him in the song “The Other Side of Liverpool”
At the age of three my father was gone
If you haven’t heard this song, give it a listen. It’s really good.

@50yearslate Yes.
Edit: Wait , which drummer? The drummer who is actually a drummer or the drummer who is actually George? Anyway, it’s a picture of Ringo and George from Ye Olde Hamburger Days when Ringo was playing with Rory and the Hurricanes.
