I moved your question to the misc questions about Ringo thread.

Does anyone know why “This Boy ” is often reffered to as “Ringo’s Theme”? I’ve done a lot of research on the Beatles but I’ve never come across the reason for that.

I believe Joe’s page on This Boy has the answer you are looking for. The whole page is good, of course, but here’s the part that answers your question.

An orchestral version of This Boy , scored by George Martin, was included in the A Hard Day’s Night film. It later appeared on his 1964 album Off The Beatle Track, and on the film’s US soundtrack release.

I had scored an instrumental version of This Boy as part of the background music, and I used it for the sequence where Ringo is wandering by the river. We called it ‘Ringo’s Theme’, and it got into the charts in America as an orchestral record – that pleased me somewhat.

@Lucy in the Sky Welcome!

In the film A Hard Day’s Night , there is a scene where Ringo is walking along a towpath. The incidental music is an instrumental version of This Boy  by the George Martin Orchestra. This version, when it was released (including on the US soundtrack album), was released as Ringo’s Theme (This Boy ), the title coming from it being the instrumental theme to Ringo’s big scene in the film.

@Starr Shine?, here’s what Ringo has said about that time in his life. The lyrics to In Liverpool

When I was a kid in Liverpool
The rain never stopped but the sun always shone in my mind, in Liverpool
The streets were long and wide
There were places we could hide in our mind

Walking to Sefton Park, and Its a beautiful day
But we should be going to school, but anyway
Me and boys, me and the gang
Living our fantasies
Breaking the rules, acting like fools
Thats how it was for me
How was it for you?

At H. Hunt & son
In Liverpool
An apprentice engineer but I had something very clear in my mind
Music was my goal in my heart and in my soul and in my mind

Walking to the Iron Door on a beautiful night
Well, I knew I wanted more
It felt so right

Me and the girl, me and the band
Living our fantasies
Breaking the rules, acting like fools
Thats how it was for me
How was it for you? (x6)

Me and the boys, me and the band
Living our fantasies
Breaking the rules, acting like fools
Thats how it was for me

Me and the boys, me and the band
Living our fantasies
Breaking the rules, acting like fools
Thats how it was for me
How was it for you?

Why is Pete always considered the original drummer. Beatles never recorded anything[ with him and if they did they never put any of his stuff on records in their active period

Pete was very much their first long-term drummer, tho they did hire him at the last minute before heading off to Germany he did become an integral part of the group during those 2 1/2 years or so and shouldn’t be overlooked. He also had a very good reputation in Liverpool.

The Beatles did record with Pete, the main ones being the German recordings (‘My Bonnie ‘, ‘Ain’t She Sweet ‘ etc) as well as playing live twice for the BBC, a huge step forward and achievement for any band (the Decca audition was never done with an official release in mind).

He also played at The Beatles’ first EMI recording session (which wasn’t just an audition) at Abbey Road on 6 June 1962. That’s a pretty significant part of Beatles history.

I am discovering Eric Clapton’s music these days and I listened to Let It Rain which reminded me of It Don’t Come Easy. Is it a mere coincidence the two sound the same?

Does anyone know anything about Nancy Lee Andrews who was engaged to Ringo in 1975-80? I never heard of her. Apparently he cheated on her with Barbara Bach which led to a palimony suit against Ringo. Does anyone know of the details? Did Ringo settle and for how much?

No, but NL Andrews might say he

“settled” when he married Bach

From this news story

The legendary Ringo Starr is coming to San Francisco on October 1 to perform at The Masonic Center, and Osso Steakhouse is honoring the music legend with an exclusive Ringo Starr Manhattan made using brandy—instead of bourbon—with sweet vermouth, Fernet-Branca, and topped off with a brandied cherry.

Does Ringo still drink alcohol after all his rehab? If he doesn’t, it is quite interesting that someone would name a drink after him.

No, I don’t think it’s nice to honor alcoholics with drinks.

1. Recovering alcoholics shouldnt drink alcohol as it can easily lead to a relapse.

2. You cannot be 1000%. Its a 100% maximum.
