Does anyone know what kind of electric guitar effect Paul used on “I Am Your Singer”? It reminds me a little of what George used on “I Need You “.

Probably just the amplifier’s tremolo control turned partway up; John used a fairly identical sound on “Hold On “. (“I Need You ” was a foot-operated volume pedal)

Wings sometimes had an odd strange persona, especially in the early 70s. Maybe Paul just didn’t want Wings to appear as The Beatles 2.0. They often appear like they are just hanging out onstage with little or no rock ‘n roll flourishes.

I was sure when I replied that there was also at least one Fabs track that also used the effect (with less intensity and different speed) but couldn’t remember which one at the time; now I recall that it’s “Sun King “.
I’ve also claimed before on this very forum that amp tremolo was also used for the wavering effect on “It’s Only Love “, but I’ve also read that it was accomplished by fast wiggling of the whammy bar, so I’m unsure…
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Thanks that sounds very similar. God that’s a good song by John!

It might be a tremolo as vonbontee said. I dunno what kind of amp used Paul on that recording, and in the clip that sigh shared it’s not very clear what amps they are using though it seems like Fender amps. Both VOX and Fender had tremolo and vibrato effects built in so you could switch them on/off with a foot pedal.
