Hi all!
I’m learning this song on piano and getting on pretty well, but struggling to get the first few notes sounding spot on.
It’s a Dmaj and I think it ‘flicks’ on the the F note before hitting the fsharp, but any keyboard experts out there can give any insight please? I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos but to be honest they either go a bit fast over this part or there is disagreement in the comments section about if it is correct.
I’m guessing it could all be in the technique and I just can’t yet grasp it properly?
Thanks in advance

@sir walter raleigh loves this piano intro, he’d be a good resource here.

Roll the m3 of the D up to the M3 with the fifth on top using fingers 2 and 3 before going down to the C chord to get the authentic sound. The intro does a lot of bouncing between the root and the third & fifth. The piano part is all about walking thirds up and then descending G inversions. I can post a video of my fingers if this doesn’t help.

Off topic, but anyone else think this really sounds like Karma Police by Radiohead? Well, the other way around…

The similarities (which are well-documented) are between the verse(s) of Sexy Sadie and the bridge/chorus of Karma Police (i.e. the ‘this is what you’ll get’ section). The latter’s chord progression of C-D-G-F#7 is identical to the second and third lines of Sexy Sadie ‘s verses.
John Lennon actually uses the same chord sequence for ‘Out The Blue’
Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if it was an intentional homage on Radiohead’s part.

I always wondered why Sexy Sadie sounded so familiar when I first heard it
