The recording of Free As A Bird and Real Love for Anthology are still very much talked about and discussed as the main selling points of the entire project, being the first “new” Beatles recordings in 25 years, and being the method to fulfill fans’ ardent desires for a Beatles reunion.
We certainly have seen many articles, sites and blog posts about the making of the songs, the efforts needed to clean up, work on timing, then lay down the overdubs.
But has anyone done a real through deconstructing of the entire process, from Jeff Lynne and Marc Mann cleaning up the tapes, to the work on every overdub, every bit of equipment used for recording, mixing and mastering, breaking down every track, and how the 1+ remixes were done?
If so, I think we’d all really like to know.
