I can’t believe no one has mentioned “Piggies .” I can listen to every Beatles song and sing every word, but this is one of the few I just don’t really *like* to listen to. As in, I’ve NEVER thought to myself, “Self, I could really go for some ‘Piggies ’ right now!” Same with Revolution #9 and pretty much anything that Ringo sings. I love you Ringo, I just don’t love your vocals compared to John, Paul and George.
And I’ve gotta represent my love for “Run For Your Life .” Yes, I named the song that shall not be named! Go ahead, send me your blue meanies …
*9 — John appreciates my love for his song.

I can’t think of a better example then I Want You (She’s So Heavy). Great bass, great drumming, great guitar riff, even a great solo by John, but the lyrics are awful and the song drags on for way too long.
I think the lyrics are perfect for this song. It would lose the sense of urgency if Lennon had written any more than he did. He manages to express his emotions in only fourteen words. Less is more in this instance.

The way I see it, The Beatles barely have any bad songs, and the ones they do have don’t seem to have particularly marvelous instrumentation. Then again, what do i know?

The song works as it goes from hesitant utterings to full out looney obsession of which there is no conclusion except either the singer or the person of intent’s death. It’s the end of the songs like ‘No Reply ‘ and ‘You Can’t Do That ‘ where the girl really needed to get a 500-mile restraining order, change her appearance, move halfway across the world and create a new whole life for herself as there would be no escape otherwise.

My favorite part of I Want You is the falsetto swoop of “I Want Yoooouuuooouuuoooooouuu”

The first time I heard the organ in the background I got goose pimples and 30 years later, guess what, they keep coming back….

Has to be the word. Typically wonderful running bass part, chords and harmonies way ahead of their time. Harmonica solo which rips like Lennon’s voice etc…..but…..It’s not a great song however and lyrically, it’s too weak to give the music the justice it deserves.
“The Word ” is one of my favourites, love its r&b grooviness, love basically every little thing about it…but the arrangement feels misshapen, with a chorus that’s three times the length of each verse! So yeah, that “Say the wooooord…-” bit does get a bit repetitious by thd end.
