I love Sun King , I think it's my most played song on itunes, but it's certainly not “great lyrically” but who cares, music is more important than lyrics.

“Eight Days A Week ” is so sparkling and self-confident and innovative and just plain catchy, that it’s a shame that its lyrics are so mindless, fab title phrase excepted.
(But, yeah, GniknuS is right: music > lyrics.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Dig A Pony , the song itself is good, but I’ve never understood where John came up with those lyrics seeing as they’re so vastly different from everything else he was doing around that time. But there are some funny references, roll a Stoney where you can imitate everyone you know.

The Beatles obviously are a great band, don't get me wrong, but I have a long list when it comes to this. I think I'll shorten this to five songs…
“Yesterday ” I think the song is pretty and all, but it's so over celebrated, that I think it's too mainstream to like.
“Yellow Submarine ” Every time it comes on, I skip it.
“You Know My Name (Look Up My Number)” is a fun song, until after two minutes of them sounding half drunk.
“I Don't Want To Spoil The Party” sounds a little depressing…I don't know about you.
“Doctor Robert ” I…just don't like it.
I salute the lady who screamed "I love you Paul!" at a tribute band's concert.

That's why I love it. I imagine them all stoned and drunk.

I used to think YNMN (LUTN) was the dumbest thing I ever heard. It has grown on me quite a bit since. Now, I smile all the way through it. It just sounds like they had so much fun making it.
I guess it would fit into this thread. Even though the words (all 8 of 'em) aren't bad per se, the instrumentation is cool. That's my boy Mal on the shovel!

What are you talking about? There are more than 8 words in “You Know My Name (Look up the Number)!” What about the “Denis o'Dell” bit?
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps ?”
“Hey Bulldog ?”
Whaaaa?
I mean, the lyrics of “Hey Bulldog ” are kind of pointless. But there are some great lyrics that aren't even trying to be great!
