Hi – New here!
I've just seen this auction…
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA…..0552916527
and was wondering just how many of these there might be? Does anyone know how many of these would be made when a band came in to lay down or master some tracks?
Thanks in advance!
I’ve not heard of that particular release before.
As for acetate discs, they were quite often made for The Beatles and their associates from rough mixes for reference purposes. George Martin, for example, quite often took copies away when he had to write a score for a song. At other times it was just because they liked the sound of them, or wanted to work on a song for longer (eg the 27 minute version of Helter Skelter ). There must have been dozens of Beatles acetates created, but they were quite fragile so broke easily.

Oh, and please be honest – this is your eBay listing and you're trying to get attention for it, right? I know you're based in Edinburgh, as is the auction item.
