I think I see a slight improvement in the level of question this time, though his answer was still a bit dull and uninformative. I wonder how long this’ll go on for?

Still going, Emily.
Brendan Browne from Australia wonders what direction Paul’s life might take if he were to go back to school. He asks:
“If you became a full time student, what would you study?”
We spoke with Paul to find out. He replied:
“Good question, thank you Brendan. I love reading and would be interested in studying English literature or history. Or computer studies, which is such a useful skill.”
I cut out the padding, but it’s at the link if you want to see it.

Paul’s latest news letter ‘What’s That You’re Doing’ is out which means its that time of the month when Paul is asked those questions we are all dying to know the answer to – yes its ‘You Gave Me The Answer‘.
This months biggie was
“Where do you get your energy from?”
Sadly Paul missed the opportunity to wade into the UK Electricity political debate instead replying
“Thank you for your question, Kevin. My energy comes from… Sex & drugs!… NO! I’m joking! It’s simply from having enthusiasm for life. It never runs out!”
Would have been far more interesting if he has said British Gas but was thinking of switching to SSE or EDF Energy as the prices are exorbitant and that even he has to switch suppliers every year.
Apologies if this is in the wrong place, fee free to move. And apologies if this post takes away your joy from these monthly question and answer sessions. I’m away to sit down and recover from such a revelation.

Applause for mmm.
I make a motion that mmm reports the monthly q&a from Paul’s website. It makes them more fun to read. Who seconds my motion?

Were the Paul ‘You gave me the answer’ questions not being posted to the Beatles News thread?
At least he is having some fun this month, no? The questions are still lousy, though. I mean, what? ”Where do you get your energy from?” Who wants to know the answer to that when you can ask him anything!?

I see that Annadog40 has seconded my motion. All in favor say “aye”. Any opposed. There are none. mmm you are welcome to entertain us at any time with your commentary on the monthly Paul q&a from his website.
EDIT: @parlance The posts on this topic from today were in the “impossible to derail thread”. Emily remembered that they should have been somewhere else and so I moved them for us. Sorry I didn’t write that here when I first moved the posts.

No, I hadn’t been. I had a hard time thinking of this as “news.”

I didn’t know we had a separate thread for these. Must have been so much hope at the start.
It’s not just the question is lousy, it’s also been asked in other interviews before with the same answer given, and Paul’s joke dates back to the 16th century and wasn’t amusing in the slightest then.
So we’ve not only getting questions that are totally uninspiring but have been asked before elsewhere. Woo-flippin’-hoo.

New answer:
‘You Gave Me The Answer’ – Anastasia from Russia asks…
“Who are your favourite British writers and poets?”
We caught up with Paul just before he jetted off to Latin America to continue his ‘Out There’ tour to find out. He answered:
“Thank you for your question, Anastasia. I’ve always been a big fan of British writers, but two of my favourites are Charles Dickens & Dylan Thomas.”
Paul is an avid reader previously revealing his favourite book as Charles Dickens’ ‘The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby’ during a Twitter Q&A last October.
The trivia-minded folk among you may also recall that Dylan Thomas, the Welsh poet and writer, appears on the cover of The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper ’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band’.
We’d love to know some of your favourite British writers. Let us know in the comments below…

Can next month’s question be, “What do you like about Dickens?” ? Need substance, Paul.

He actually did me a favour with this answer. I’ve been writing a feature (not for this site) on Dylan Thomas and the rock musicians he inspired. I already had some Beatles connections but I can add this to the mix. Thanks Paul!

You may want to refrain from mentioning Bob Dylan in that feature, Joe – supposedly he took his name from the old televised cowboy series “Gunsmoke” rather than the poet! (Or that could just be characteristic Dylan bullshit self-mythology, who knows…)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
No, it’s OK. I’ve researched it thoroughly, with quotes from Chronicles and elsewhere.
“Instead of Robert Allen it would be Robert Allyn,” he wrote. “Then sometime later, unexpectedly, I’d seen some poems by Dylan Thomas. Dylan and Allyn sounded similar. Robert Dylan. Robert Allyn. I couldn’t decide – the letter D came on stronger.”

May question answered. A little different from the norm.
We have a tendency to remember big news events and where we were when we first heard about them. Earlier this year, we heard many delightful stories from fans who remembered seeing The Beatles for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Over the past few years we’ve been spoilt for big events here at PaulMcCartney.com too with Paul performing live at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert, the opening ceremony of the Olympics and the 12-12-12 benefit, to name just three!
Bill Salter from the USA has been in touch to ask Paul where he was during another important news story. He asks,
“Paul, who were you with and where did you watch man first land on the moon?”
We caught up with Paul recently to find out. He replied,
“Thank you for your question, Bill. As I remember it, Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon in the middle of the night and I was in bed with Linda in London while we watched it. A pretty amazing night!”
Years later, in November 2005, Paul became the first musician to broadcast a live performance out to space when he played ‘English Tea’ from his Chaos And Creation In The Backyard album to the astronauts on the International Space Station.
