I went to see it last night, and it was a remarkable experience. As seen in the above postings, you can catch it on Youtube, but the quality isn’t great.
Seeing it in a movie theater with the “Surround Sound” and quality imaging is very satisfying.
McCartney’s bass lines really jump out.
Two songs I could have done without are “Spirits of Ancient Egypt” and Paul Simon’s “Richard Cory”
(What? How can you say that? “Spirits of Ancient Egypt” is awesome, etc… ).
I look forward to a similar movie experience with the Flowers In The Dirt tour.
No, you’re correct. They also could’ve not played Medicine Jar and Go Now (basically, anything not sung by Paul) but those are minor complaints and to Paul’s credit, he wanted it to be more a true band than just a vehicle for himself.

I like “Medicine Jar” OK, never cared for “Go Now” or “Richard Cory” even in the original versions (and don’t understand why they were covering a Paul Simon song anyways, in the case of the latter) but yeah, good on Paul for giving Denny Laine a coupla songs in the spotlight. (Speaking of my old “Wings Over America ” copy here; haven’t seen any of Rockshow yet)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

That’s the same boat I’m in, it’s playing on June 8th, 45 min away from me but I can’t get anyone to go with me, and all of my fellow fanatical Beatles/Wings fans live too far away to join me ” class=”spSmiley” />

I’m listening to the WOA remaster on Spotify right now and all I can say is that it is FANTASTIC. The sound blew me away and of course, the performances…just great!
For my fellow Americans, if you buy it at Best Buy, it comes with an exclusive 3rd CD containing the songs that are only otherwise available on the big expensive deluxe set, and all 3CDs are only $14.99! I usually avoid buying CDs at Best Buy (I prefer supporting my local indie record store) but this is a deal too good to pass up.

I saw Rockshow a couple of weeks ago at the cinema. It’s well worth a trip if you can make it to a screening – it’s a good show (or edits of different shows), and great to see on a big screen with a decent sound system. Otherwise buy or borrow the disc, depending on how much you like Wings (they do a lot of Beatles songs too – I think the tracklisting is largely the same as Wings Over America ).

^It is the same, I don’t think the set changed too much on that tour.
I had planned to see Rockshow when it plays near me in theatres in July, but it’s the night before I’m going to see Paul in Boston, and it’s also a worknight, so I’m going to forgo the film in order to see the real deal in person 8). I’ll grab the DVD when it comes out, but I’ve seen the film before and it’s great.
I also HIGHLY recommend the new remaster of WOA (the album)…it’s phenomenal in both sound and performance quality. That band was hot! And anyone who thinks Wings didn’t have great songs will be corrected.

“Go Now” was presumably performed as a nod to Denny’s days with The Moody Blues… and that was their biggest hit while he was with them. I have no idea why they chose to perform Simon & Garfunkel’s “Richard Cory,” though.
Personally, I was kind of hoping (largely in vain, I’m aware) that they’d also release the Venus And Mars and Wings At The Speed Of Sound reissues with Wings Over America — since the latter mostly covers the 2 former albums. But the glacial pace of these reissues continue…

‘Rockshow’ is being broadcast by BBC4 next Friday (5th July) at 9pm followed by repeat airings of ‘Wings Over The World’, ‘Please Please Me : Remaking a Classic’, and ‘Sings The Beatles’ (archive bbc performances of artists covering Beatles songs).

BBC Four seems to have a Beatles night once a month these days (not that I’m complaining). The version of Rockshow they broadcast wasn’t the full version, just edited highlights. I don’t know about WOTW, as I hadn’t seen it before.

Picked up Wings Over America and Rockshow at my local record shop over the weekend.
Rockshow was really entertaining, especially their hair. It was an uplifting experience. I also liked Paul’s jacket with the pink stripes. It was nice watching them rock out 1970’s style.

Yikes! Just now seeing your post, Doc – sorry for the delay.
I love it. For years, I had been familiar with the album (I may still have the vinyl in a box somewhere in my basement). But, seeing the show actually come to life was stunning. Now, when I listen the disc, I get a better feel for the atmosphere – especially the acoustic songs which were played with them sitting in chairs on stage. Also, the between-song banter is something you don’t get on the album. I was not sure what to expect from this show from the 70’s after watching Good Evening NYC so many times. The energy level was the same on both concerts.
On a side note: Paul is my 4th favorite Beatle. However, purely as an entertainer, I truly believe Macca is the world’s best. If all of them were alive and they were all giving concerts at the same time, I would be hard pressed not to want to see his over the other 3. The man knows how to bring it.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
