a modern drum sound and things like the autotuned vocal harmonies on “Feet in the Clouds”.
Thanks for saving me some time, I Me Mine …now I know that’s one McCartney song I never need to hear!
(Autotune and modern drum sounds must DIE!!)
When I say modern drum sound I don’t mean computer-generated drum-machine-like drum sound, but that distorted sound the real drums played by Paul have in some songs of the album (Feet in the Clouds is not one of them). As for autotune, I really dislike its use for what it’s actually made: correcting pitch mistakes (like in Good Evening NYC). However, I sometimes like a more artistic aproach to it when it’s used as an effect, which is certainly how Paul uses it on Feet in the Clouds. And it’s only in a small part of the song. I was there at the time and it was ‘Band On The Run ‘ for me.
‘McCartney’ suffered from the breakup, ‘Ram ‘ was too homestyle for the critics, ‘Wild Life ‘ – sorry – it was just average, ‘Red Rose Speedway ‘ was OK – but uneven. I remember ‘Band On The Run ‘ and ‘Venus And Mars ‘ just blowing folks away, as did the tour which is the first and only time I have seen him live (so far). He then had a bit of a dip around ‘London Town ‘ and possibly subsequent comebacks.
