According to the article, http://ultimateclassicrock.com…..mccartney/ Linda was even nominated for an Oscar® for her co-write of “Live And Let Die .” So, if she and Paul had never met, Linda would never have been an Oscar® nominee! By the way, “The Way We Were” won the award that year, over the way way better (in my opinion) “Live And Let Die .” Which is… (ahem)… way uncool.

Ermahgerd McLennon! IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED.
JK.
But seriously, imagine if Yoko and Paul would’ve gotten together. What would the world have become

While I can see John and Paul getting involved in a threesome, I can’t see it with Yoko. She’d try to be the dominant one in the trio, and while John might have cottoned to it, no way Paul would have.
…
Let’s move on.
Another recourse of Paul never meeting Linda: he might not have become a vegetarian, or had gotten so involved in causes. A lot of the work he does is directly influenced from Linda.

We would also lose a lot of the cool photos she took from ’67 onwards – tho we would have gotten others. And there is the video footage of their last photo session at Tittenhurst in August ’69, wasnt that shot by Linda?
From Joe’s entry for the 22nd August 1969
Linda shot some 16mm footage on my camera. That turned out to be the last film taken.

If Paul had never met Linda, she would not have gotten co-writing credits on a bunch of best-selling songs. That list, along with some other interesting things about Linda, can be read here: http://ultimateclassicrock.com…..mccartney/
Thanks! As a big Linda fan I am proud that I knew most of those, but there were a few that I didn’t know!

I think it would’ve happened anyway. Maybe they would’ve overcome the whole situation eventually and maybe they would’ve been less bitter, but we have to remind ourselves that the Eastman/Klein thing wasn’t the starting point of their fights and relationship that became worse. There were more factors. I don’t think Paul would’ve gone with Klein if he hadn’t known the Eastmans. He didn’t trust Klein. Had he not known Eastman, he still wouldn’t have trusted Klein.
I agree, it still would have been a mess, even without Eastman.
My opinion? I think she made Paul a better person, and who knows what he would have become without her? Maybe he would have been okay, but maybe not?
So many love songs he wrote for her wouldn’t even exist.
I am so very glad they did meet. Thanks universe.

LongHairedLady, your expression of gratitude that Paul and Linda met is very touching. And I think that your phrase “Thanks, Universe” happens to be a great song title. I wouldn’t dream of stealing it, but it really strikes me as a “song-waiting-to-be-written.”

Thank you! Maybe I will write it someday! Me dad was a songwriter, maybe it’s in the genes!

If Paul had never met Linda, he might not have written the song “Long Haired Lady.” Instead, he might have composed “Curly Permed Lady,” or “Braided Bang Lady”… depending on the mystery woman’s hairstyle. “Long Haired Lady” sounds the best, so I think it worked out well.

If Paul had never met Linda, this thread would not exist and I would not be typing this…or this.
He could have met and married another woman called Linda and this thread could exist, the content would have been very different however. Although there is the theory that if one incredibly small almost inconsequential detail in the universe were to change at any point then the effect and change upon everything could be massive.

MeanMrMustard said that maybe Yoko and Paul would have gotten together…that actually made me nauseous just thinking about that even for a moment…augh. But here are some other possibilities…he was very fond of Cynthia Lennon (and Julian)…maybe he’d have ended up with her after her divorce from John. Or…he might have stolen Patti Boyd away from George and Eric Clapton. He could also have gone after Lady Diana or one of the other royals…lots of possibilities here. Just glad “the Universe” brought them together (hence the song “Across The Universe !”)

If Paul had never met Linda, many other things may have happened radiating out from that, such as that John may have broken up with Yoko, or have been elsewhere on that fateful night and avoided getting shot — then later in the 80s, Paul and John finally realized they were in love and got married in the Bahamas, then put out an album called “Gay Virgins 69” (use your imagination for the album cover) — on which one of the tracks, “A Gay in the Life” features Paul singing the “ahhhhs”.

Not.
But consider the following: the breakup wasn’t the problem; bands breakup and get back together all the time. The ACRIMONY surrounding the breakup was the issue. And that acrimony came from a) Lennon/Ono but also b) from McCartney’s (naturally) wanting his in-laws to clean up Apple, not Klein.
Had Linda never entered the picture, it’s likely that Lee and John Eastman wouldn’t have either. McCartney might have been more amenable to Klein and conversely, Harrison and Starr might have gone along with whomever else McCartney’s might have preferred.
None of this is to suggest that this was Linda’s (direct) fault. How would she say ‘no’ to her father and brother? (But you’d think the senior Eastman would have had the wisdom to see how he’d be perceived by the swing vote, Harrison and Starr.)

Linda entering the picture definitely affected how Paul wanted Apple to be handled, and without her the Eastman’s wouldn’t have been there.
Maybe it ended the way it did due to Linda’s indirect influence, but I think the tensions were rising either way and the breakup was eminent Linder or no Linder.
