Woah. I didn't know Paul was that good. At least, I THINK it's him playing.

Edit: Er, that's the second solo, which starts about 3:30

Paul is an amazing Guitarist/Bassist/Drummer/Vocalist/Songwriter/Trumpeter/Etc. He made every part he played so colorful.

"The best band? The Beatles. The most overrated band? The Beatles."

I agree – I watched his 2003 concert from St Petersburg last Friday night. He can definitely still bring it on the lead guitar.

I'm green with envy of those who saw/are going to see his current tour. I gotta get to a Macca concert soon if he is playing anywhere near Maine in the near future.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I think that is most probbably Rusty Anderson playing lead on that song.

Hi,

Actually it was Paul himself- here's an article quoting David Kahne, who produced Memory Almost Full :

“House of Wax”: The climactic “House of Wax,” which McCartney played live on his handful of “secret gig” shows supporting the album, again features the band, with McCartney providing the crying blues guitar solo.

In the linked article Kahne himself elaborates on how Paul came to play the guitar solo on House of Wax. I had thought it was Paul, but seeing this thread made me want to check it out for sure.

On a semi-related… fine, completely unrelated topic, thank you, Paulrus, for going back to your awesome avatar!

If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Ahaha, I didn't actually change it, but something happened to whoever was hosting the photo, and it came up with the Upgrade to Pro! message instead. It fixed itself somehow, though. For some reason all of my avatars end up doing that. In fact, I switched to the Elbow John avatar after my old one of Ringo dancing stuffed up. I think I like this one better though

Wow, what a solo. I haven’t listened to much of Paul’s solo stuff but man, this has encouraged me to.

The following people thank QuarryMan for this post:

Ahhh Girl

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

The rest of the song didn’t particularly strike my fancy, but that solo. Damn. Paul’s got chops paul-mccartney-thumb_gif
