Thanks Ahhh Girl — for now I cheated and went straight for the Lady Madonna part.  I’ll watch the rest of it later.  What year is that from?  Who’s that blonde woman in the audience?

I have to say I don’t care for this version; it’s certainly interesting for him to try that and on one level, why not?  But that still doesn’t mean I like it.  It sounds like a Billly Joel ballad now… To me the magic of the original is its tempo and the intricate piano (plus the harmonies from John and George and the saxophones).

Here’s the information about the date : “Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road , recorded on 28 July 2005, was a live concert given by Paul McCartney at Abbey Road Studios, specifically Studio 2, where many of The Beatles’ recordings were made. The official release date was January 27, 2006.”

I wondered about the blonde too. I haven’t a clue as to who she is.

I found this thread while fishing around in some of the forum backfile. The video is mentioned in that thread.

That IS excellent!

I don’t care for this rendition of Lady Madonna , but everything else is great.

So again, I renew my plea to you (and all Paul fans who haven’t watched the video) to watch the whole video.

Paul, do you have a library card? Do your grandchildren have library cards or are you a family that just buys all the books and media formats you want?

Even if your family doesn’t utilize your local public library, do you support libraries and their mission?

Did Linda every play naughty, sexy librarian for you? Has Nancy? If Nancy needs some pointers, I would be glad to show her provided that you, of course, are part of the role playing. a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Well, if “The Girl is Mine” is any indication, maybe Linda was a swinger if she’s letting Paul fight Michael for her affections… ahdn_paul_01

No you didn’t. I, on the other hand, deserve the loss of my mind for actually sitting through 5 minutes of Glee to hear how badly they’re butchering the Beatles. (Very badly, and I’m going to do a show on this? Maybe I made a mistake…) I switched it to The Michael J. Fox show to save my sanity. HELP ME MICHAEL J. FOX! a-hard-days-night-ringo-13

^^tee hee hee! Oh, goodie, I’ve been forgiven again a-hard-days-night-george-9. I’ll see if I can go more than 24 hours without trangressing again.

You are a braver soul than me. I have avoided all the Glee stuff. I wonder what Paul and Ringo think about the Glee songs?

To quote myself from ‘Glee’ to ruin *ahem* HONOUR the Beatles! thread:

Just so you all know Paul offered some songs to Glee back in 2010. Again, there have been Beatles songs as well as Lennon (solo) & Wings; however, I thought would have been Beatles episode done within the first two, maybe even three seasons. Britney Spears already had two episodes.

http://www.nydailynews.com/ent…..e-1.199965

However, as far what he thinks of it now, I do not know. I know that he did give Carrie Underwood his blessing when she sung ‘Yesterday ‘ at the Emmys on Sunday. It wasn’t bad cover, she didn’t have the emotion, but as long as Paul is happy.

Edit: I can say I’m glad when they did their Beatle impression during ‘I Saw Her Standing There ‘, Darren at least played the bass with his left hand like Paul unlike some of cover bands.

A bit of money, exposure to a new audience, more popularity, dress it up as keeping the Beatles appealing to modern kids. Not bad for doing nothing.

I would like to know if/how many young people that watch the episodes will go back and listen to Beatles records, and I wonder if they like the real thing vs the Glee-ed versions.

Has anyone seen any blogs or surveys that address this question?

A lot of time you can just go youtube and look through the comments. I say from my experience, they tend to prefer the Glee versions better; however, there are sometimes where they do prefer the originals (depending upon who it is). One thing that they like to do in the comment section besides saying “Glee did it better” is “Glee”, “Glee brought me here” or “thumbs up if Glee brought you here” on the original artist youtube video. It can get annoying. So, far there hasn’t really been much buzz on The Beatles youtube vids.

^^ Ah, yes. YouTube comments. Thank you for mentioning those. If I were younger, I might have thought about that source of information. I was too caught up in thinking about a focus-group conducted by a social science researcher.

That would be interesting. The Parents Television Counsel is the only thing I can think of and they generally only care how risque or violent a tv show is.   Maybe you should conduct a survey. Do you just want to do generalization of all their song covers or only The Beatles?

Emily said in that thread that Paul’s been asked a few times but he can’t remember. I’d love to see a link to one of these interviews or fan encounters.

I think someone did post a link to an interview on here, though I can’t be entirely sure. It was a while ago that I remember seeing it, and I may have stumbled across it on yt. I’ll try and have a look for it at the weekend, and see what I find. I really regret not bookmarking the site or something.

Paul, why is your new “New” album going to have different tracks on it in different parts of the world; won’t this make it hard for most fans to enjoy all of your new (no pun intended) music?
