I would ask Paul, and Ringo, too, why they felt they had to participate in the horrible event that was called ‘the Grammys 2014’?
The whole show was a ritual celebration dedicated to the Devil.
It couldn’t be for money, because you are both rich beyond your wildest dreams…And you certainly don’t need the recording industry, because the industry is a canker filled sore.
So why do you participate in such a travesty?

I enjoyed it.
Wait , are you talking about the actual Grammys or the tribute show?
Because the Grammys sucked, you’re right

Someone one a) might have written this elsewhere and its stuck in my head after reading it and/or b) might be able to answer it here which would save Paul having to.
In Smile Away are you commentating on your ex-Beatle bandmates and what they were saying about you at the time?

Just saw these references on Joe’s pages and thought of your question, mmm.

The words have been interpreted by some as a commentary on the other Beatles and Allen Klein. And while it is tempting to dismiss Smile Away as meaningless nonsense, there could indeed be a degree of autobiography in the words.

Lennon also felt 3 Legs and Smile Away were about The Beatles and Apple, that Dear Boy was written about him, and the closing lines of The Back Seat Of My Car – “We believe that we can’t be wrong” – amounted to pointed criticism of him and Ono.

Thank you for that AG. Probably picked up the thread from John and reading about Ram recently.

You are most welcome. Just a little more follow up since I was interested.
From the book The Words and Music of Paul McCartney: The Solo Years by Vincent Perez Benitez
Look at the 2nd full paragraph on p. 28
The 2nd full paragraph on p. 29 about “3 Legs ” is interesting too.
Another reference to Blaney’s comment/citation The Album: A Guide to Pop Music’s Most Provocative, Influential, and … edited by James E. Perone (this one shows the Blaney reference in the notes section)
The Blaney book these other books reference is Lennon & Mccartney Together Alone (beware, freaky picture on the cover)

Lennon & Mccartney Together Alone looks like a very interesting read. There is too much to read already.

Joe mentions that he has this book. And again here– and seems to like it.

I’d ask him if he is saying John, George and Ringo on the backing vocal on Power Cut at about 2:30.
That was an interesting conversation about Power Cut we all had not long ago. I still haven’t heard “Ringo” yet, but I need to give it another go.
I do wonder what Paul’s answer would be if you asked him about it.

…and the outcome of the battle?
mmm, have you had a listen to see if you hear the names at the end of the song?

Self-restraint. It would take too long and cost too much to replace so not worth it. I just tune out.
I haven’t heard the names no but by the time Power Cut comes on i’m so utterly bored, fed up and wanting the medley to end i couldn’t care less if Paul was informing us who sang the ah’s in A Day In The Life or the secrets of the Universe.

lol, I found it easier to hear through my cars auxiliary cord then head phones. Might also help that a car is a small enclosed shape so sound bounces around. I never actually heard Ringo, someone on the other thread claimed they did, I do hear an off beat Ringoesque drum fill after he says John and George.

Why did you put forth the effort to get John and Yoko back together after he had been with May Pang for awhile?

I’m going with John Lennon . Makes much more sense, and he can’t have put that in thinking “Oh, no one’ll notice I used to be best friends with this guy who’s also named John”
