Paul has a wide range, however, when he picks what range he wants to stay in for a particular song, he stays in that range. He doesn’t shift from high to low to high to low like other singers do, even though he’s capable of doing both ranges on separate occasions.
It’s why his volatile singing on Golden Slumbers surprised me.

Why wouldn’t they let you bring lunch? @Ahhh Girl
I just ran out of time this morning to put a lunch together before running out of the house to get to work on time.

If you haven’t found this post yet, you’ll want to check out the video @Holsety made showing Macca’s range and versatility. Good stuff.

From the article:
Whose voice box would you most like to get your hands on?
I want to treat Paul McCartney , because I think he’s still got it. Singers like McCartney have amazing, genius skills—but they don’t exercise their voices. It’s not about aging, it’s about voice management. My dream is that Paul calls me up and asks if I can make his voice sound youthful, so he can hit the high notes in “Hey Jude ” like he used to.
He can have the voice box. I’ll take care of the rest.

Personally, I don’t think that having a wide vocal range means anything. If that were true, we would be considering Death Metal singers on par with Freddie Mercury. What really matters is what and how they sing. People like John Lennon are great vocalists because they say what they want and don’t hold back, whereas singers like Bon Scott just get the job done and give the instruments a chance to shine, whereas singers like Freddie Mercury impress for wide versatile range (but again, that’s Queen in general, where one track they’re doing basic power chord style Hard Rock with a little bit of slide guitar and some powerful energetic vocals (Tie Your Mother Down) and the next track is a fairly well produced ballad with soft vocals and guitars overdubbed to give the illusion of a full orchestra (You Take My Breath Away), now that’s versatility). Point is that Paul is a great singer regardless of his range, though he can sure hit some low notes (Maxwell’s Silver Hammer , You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)), and some high notes too (Getting Better , Oh, Darling, Maybe I’m Amazed ).

We wouldn’t want the remainder of his body to get jealous of his voice box. Right? Yeah, right. That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it.

Can we petition for this to happen. I want to be able to hear Paul McCartney for many years to come, both live and new recordings

Apologies in advance if this has been posted elsewhere in the forums. Paul never ceases to amaze me, and I thought I’d share this interesting list I found.
A few weeks ago, I was listening to a Queen album and thought “wow, Freddie Mercury has such an amazing voice. Surely, he had the greatest vocal range of any major singer/vocalist.” So I decided to google “greatest vocal range” and found an article that ranks vocalists by their range. Surprisingly, Freddie Mercury was not at the top (the honor goes to Mike Patton of Faith No More).
However, Paul McCartney was ranked #11 with a vocal range of 4 octaves, 5 notes! Wow!! I had no idea. Here is the article:

They obtained their rankings from research done by members of another forum, and here is Paul’s entry on that forum which gives lot of detailed information on what songs have the highest and lowest notes. Way to go Paul!

Hey, @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^< or anyone who knows about this stuff, would Paul still be able to sing We Got Married? The music in that song would rock a big stadium. Has he ever done that song during a concert before?

He’d still be able to reach those notes; they’re not that high. If he had to sing it, I’d suspect he’d do it in falsetto to make the transition easier. I don’t know how well it’d sound, though. His voice is so much rougher than it was then, and since the original song has very smooth vocals, it may sound like s**t. I could be wrong, of course!

Paul performed ‘We Got Married’ during the 1989/90 tours, no idea if he’s done it since. One of the performances is available on ‘Tripping The Live Fantastic ‘.
