My version of “who's on first”:
-What Paul's song do you like?
-I like this one.
-which one?
-This one…
-what? are you mad? tell me which one!
-THIS ONE, you moron! THIS ONE!
1989, single of Flowers In The Dirt . You know, that one…
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

BTW It was interesting that Paul sang that one in Mexico. Maybe he doesn't make the connection (and I'm sure many people don't) but the first 2 lines “Oh, no one ever left alive, in 1985 will ever do” reminded me of the 2 earthquakes that almost destroyed the capital city in 1985. I didn't lose any relative but I know people who did, and can't talk about it. It made a big impression on me.
I have to believe he did not make the connection. Nor did any of his people. It's a great song, but that first line does have great significance in your country. Yes, the song was recorded many years before 1985, but still…
At the same time, I'm not going to lambaste him for including it in the set list because I am quite sure it was not intentional.

Which reminds me of a classic conversation between a friend and I way back when. We were listening to Roundabout and he asked me “is this The Who?”. To which I replied, “No, Yes”.
I'll spare you the rest, but suffice it to say it did not improve from there.

LOL! Very good Marcelo and Skye.
Oh and it's nothing bad Zig that he played that song, there's a song from Soda Stereo that says wake me up after the earthquake and people took it as an “anthem”.
Now I can't get out of my head Mrs. Vanderbilt BTW Does anybody know why did he choose that last name? I like that song, it reminds me of the Graduate movie with the excellent Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman.

I listen to Paul's solo stuff quite a bit. Two songs i'm enjoying at the moment. My Carnival which is a b side around the Venus And Mars time, and the song i'm really into right now and have been since the Flaming Pie album came out is Beautiful Night. It's classic McCartney and has the added bonus of Ringo on drums and backing vocals. Gives me goosebumps everytime it kicks back in at the end

Continuing on the off-topic diversion, here's me and a co-worker/drinking buddy, both of us mid-20ish and already smug & cynical, watching Saturday Night Live's musical guest sometime around 1992:
SNL Announcer: And now, here's Teenage Fanclub !
Me: Oh man, these guys suck.
John: Who are th-
Me: (interrupting) Teenage Fanclub.
John: What?
Me: (with contempt) Teenage Fanclub.
John: Yeah, no doubt. But what are they called?
Me: Teenage Fanclub!
John: Ah.
(Did they really suck? Probably not. But I'd bought their Bandwagonesque LP a few months earlier based on good reviews, and was disappointed, and sold it after like 2 1/2 plays. And I was smug and cynical, don't forget.)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

As far as I heard Teenage Fanclub, they not only don't suck at all, but have some kind of “beatlesque” taste in their songs. And that's a good “who's of first”, Von.
Going far off-topic: I came with this “This one” gag reading this thread, so, it's fictional. But it happens that english speakers have this kind of confusion in real life. Now, I'm wondering about this (help me, mithveaven): I can't really tell if this kind of situations could happen in spanish, my language; seems to be an english phenomenum.
On topic: I'm hearing “Flowers In The Dirt ” album. That's a good one, right? I'm not into Paul's (in fact, nor George's nor Ringo's) solo career, I only know some songs.
Which are the best Paul's solo albums?

Mhhhhh in Spanish? Talking about bands, not really. I don't know any band that uses a grammar words (who, that, when, etc) as names of bands. Neither gerunds. In English is cool to say “Smashing Pumpkins” or “Rolling Stones”. But in Spanish you translate it as “Aplastando calabazas” or “Rodando piedras”. (which BTW sounds quite funny jajajajaja).
The thing is, that in Spanish is weird to use verbs as nouns. We have different words for that, for example “She's swimming” we use the verb “Nadando” but if you talk about the activity “Swimming” that's “Natacion”. Mhh that's interesting, I'd talk with my boss about it.
Now, if you say “Something ” that's Spanish “Algo”. In English it works well as the name of a song, but in Spanish people would be scratching their heads saying “Something …. what?” you need more information. It's not enough. So imagine if you name a band “Los Quienes” people would say “Los quienes que??” I mean, yeah you're the whos, but the who's what?
