Great pics Dr. Beatle!
I’m leaving for Seattle in the morning… Paul on friday…… I’m so anxious I’m gonna be sick…..
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

I went and saw Paul in Miluakee yesterday, or I guess two days ago now, and omg was it a great show.
The kid in front of me didn’t seem too thrilled about being there, though. He was sitting down playing a game on his phone basically the whole time. Like Paul McCartney is the greatest most exciting and talented thing to happen since Jesus Christ, and that kid didn’t even care. He was even plugging his ears for the first couple songs too (i guess he might just have sensitive ears, but still).
Then there were all these people who left before the encores. They missed like the greatest part. I would not have been okay leaving if I hadn’t heard Paul sing Yesterday , I mean, how could anybody be okay with that?
And the drummer Abe Laboriel, is crazy. He goes hard. He’s a really good drummer. The whole band is fantastic, though.
At one point, I think it was after Hi Hi Hi , a man in front of me turned around and said “this man’s amazing,” and that pretty much sums it all up. Paul truly is amazing. His voice is so good, it was even better than the other times I have seen him, and his set list is crazy good. I think this was the best concert of his I’ve been to.

Speaking of “Hi Hi Hi ” — in an interview I read in approximately 1986 in some fan magazine (before the Internet existed!), Paul noted the amusing fact that the person who transcribed the lyrics for the songbook misunderstood him. His lyrics at one point say:
“I want you to lie on the bed
get you ready for my polygon…”
But in the songbook, it was written down as:
“I want you to lie on the bed
get you ready for my body gun…”
Paul noted that “body gun” was much better.

I was talking to Mam about me putting my friend on “Macca Watch” because I won’t be near the internet for about 4/5 weeks so mam can book tickets for me in case I’m not at home when he releases dates. Cue her saying “Ya don’t honestly think I’m going to see Paul McCartney do you?” “But Ma, you don’t have to go I’ve got it all sorted we can stay at Bewley’s Hotel in Ballsbridge if he’s playing in the RDS, if he’s in the 02 (hopefully not) I’ll stay at the Bewley’s Hotel in Dublin Airport, cheap rates Mam. I can get a train out and a bus at 6:30 back so I’ll be home in time for school”. “Sure why do you want to go see Paul McCartney ?” “Mam he might never come back to Ireland or something might happen to him, I’M NOT GOING TO MISS MY CHANCE TO SEE PAUL MCCARTNEY!!!! I’ll pay to see him myself”. And her concluding the conversation with “What have I raised?” *rolling her eyes up to the heavens* and walking off to bed.
So I guess I’m going to see Paul then if he does Irish dates I hope it’s a Friday/Saturday night though saves me a hell of a lot of hassle with getting up early to be in my town at 8:30 and ready for school at 9:20. But I will possibly have the best excuse for leaving school early.
Teacher: Katie, why are you leaving class early?
Me: Going to see Paul McCartney , miss
He better do an Irish date and I better get tickets else I’m going to be really pissed

From the Hollywood Reporter:
The Paul McCartney -fronted version of Nirvana is back. And this time they’ve regrouped in Seattle.
During his “Out There” North American tour, the former Beatle played at Safeco Field on Friday night where he was joined by Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear of the grunge band, the Seattle Times reports.
The article also links to more videos at Consequence of Sound.

^^ I was there! It was AMAZING!
It was a beautiful day and the roof was open!
I didn’t miss him coming out this time around, and it was just so great to see him waltz out there. He’s just the s**t.
I enjoyed every single minute of it! I didn’t know about Dave Grohl and the rest coming out, so that was a complete surprise! They did “Cut Me Some Slack”.. which I didn’t pay much attention to before, but it sounded great live! He did “Long Tall Sally ” which I completely didn’t expect which is one of my all time favourites! That was definitely my favourite moment! Other shows he did “Hi, Hi, Hi ” which I really wanted to hear, but Long Tall Sally is a good replacement, I’m not complaining. At the end when they were doing “The End “, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Paul, Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray were all jamming out, it was so freaking epic!
He is just amazing, and his band is too. That man does not cease to amaze me. He’s 71 years old and he still sounds great! He actually outdid himself from when I saw him last November. I had better seats – more centred – so that helped.
Just…. so good. I didn’t think I could love and respect him any more… but I do.
Oh, another thing: I went to the EMP museum that day (it was my first time in Seattle, and in the U.S.A, so I did more than just the concert), and I swear to God I saw Dave Grohl! He was standing like 3 feet from me, and I thought “No, it can’t be him, the guy just looks a lot like him”, but then at the concert I looked and his tattoos were even the same. I didn’t even say anything! Ugh! At least I “saw” him….
I hope he goes back because I would go a third time for sure!

I almost forgot:
1) I saw a hipster douche-bag wearing a shirt that said “The Original Beatles” with this picture on it:
Ok buddy, isn’t that an insult to Ringo? Pete didn’t deserve to be in the band, he ditched out on them all the time. Quit trying to be cool and sensationalize a guy that wasn’t famous for a good reason.
2) I forgot to mention how much sass Paul still has, even at 71. I love his stage presence.

My only fear is that he doesn’t do a full show since it’s part of a festival, and in the past the headliner at Outside Lands only did an hour. Here’s hoping he insists on doing an entire concert.

Hi LHL — Sounds like you had a blast. Could you tell me your impressions of Paul’s performance and version of two songs in particular — “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite” and “All Together Now “? I’m interested in how he did those, if anything was different etc.

Yay, LHL! Been waiting for your review!! I know how fantastic Paul is and I could feel it in your post. So glad you enjoyed the show and had a “celebrity sighting” to boot!!! Sounds FAN-TASTICAL! Makes me even more excited for my August 14th show! Counting down the days now!! Woot!
And YES! Paul may be 71, but that hasn’t lessened his sass one lil bit! Love that man!!
