Wow…. such ungrateful gits ought to be kicked out of the venue! I don’t get why people would be walking out; if you don’t like the music that much, don’t buy tickets for the fecking concert! There are more than enough real fans that’d give anything to go to the gig and enjoy ALL songs! Okay, when you need to go to the loo, you need to go. Personally, I’ll make damn sure my bladder will be empty when the show starts, and I’ll stop drinking long enough in advance so I won’t have to go during the concert. The biggest problem is at the Echo, if you buy a bottle of water or pop, they don’t let you have the lid (???) so it’s a bit risky putting it down on the floor and difficulty clapping, dancing or cheering with a bottle in your hand a lot of people (myself included) gulped their drink before hand. But my boyfriend mentioned he needed to go to the toilet half way through, but he was watching Paul freaking McCartney !
Knowing me, I’d sooner wear a nappy than go to the loo during a concert! Drinks are ridiculously expensive at such venues anyway, so that’s another good reason not to buy any. Yeah, my mouth’ll get dry and my throat’ll get raw, but that’s what chewing gum and throat pastilles are for 🙂 I get that not everyone is that obsessed dedicated, but walking out several times, or getting drunk? No way! I feel it’s disrespectful towards the artist on stage to behave like that.
Haha, that thought entered my mind too, MMM

I don’t think Paul will be playing any of his Kanyeborrations, so I’ll be happy to see and hear the entire show.

I quoted this simply to see what my spell-checker made of Kanyeborrrations. It thinks I mean aberration.

I went for two breaks during the Ringo show in Glasgow; i hated two of the non-Ringo songs so i left and went for a wander.
At least you waited till the non-Ringo songs.

You dont walk out when Ringo’s singing.
Hah!
Even if his singing is out of tune?
(For the record, I can’t think of any instance in which he is truly singing out of tune. He just sounds fairly tuneless. )

Well, those Kanyeborations definitely are aberrations in my view, so it’s not too far off… I love Paul, but his love for Ye boggles the mind.

Yeah. I think he lost the tune sometime around 1975. Occasionally he comes across it and gives it a hug but then he forgets where he set it down and its gone again.
If i ever have to listen to ‘La-de-da’ again I know i’ve went to hell.

Couldnt he have just went in the empty bottle?
And thrown it at the people who booed John and George?
Was that too mean?

It’s 3 in the morning and I ought to be in bed, but I wanted to stop by and say the show was FAB! Paul’s voice was incredible tonight. I’m sure Linde will agree he sounded very much like his young self a lot of the time. The show started late, but it did last the full 3 hours. I ended up taking many pictures. Most are not that good, but some are quite nice. I’ll have to sift through them all, but I wanted to share these from Live And Let Die (and Pauls’ response to that final, deafening blast):
I’ll put the setlist here as a spoiler, just in case 🙂
Save Us
Another Girl (Dutch premiere)
Listen To What The Man Said
Temporary Secretary (Dutch premiere)
Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five
Hope For The Future (Dutch premiere)
New
Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite
Encore 1:
Encore 2:
Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End
P.S. I was very happy and proud of the way the audience responded to the tributes to John and George. The crowd gave a long and thunderous applause before and after the tributes. When Paul started to play Here Today , he was fumbling with the chords a bit. Suddenly, the crowd began to chant “All we can say is Give Peace A Chance “, over and over. Paul played along with us, and then he did Here Today . The whole venue sang along to Something too, which was so beautiful! I think he was very happy with the way the audience responded.

So this was my first arena gig ever. We walked in, and this lady pointed to the row we’d be sitting in, and my God , it was high and steep! I couldn’t imagine myself sitting there for at least 3.5 hours and I thought my mom was about to get a heart attack, she was so scared! When it started I wasn’t really paying attention to the height anymore though.
So I had made sure I would have enough battery by having used my phone only for the necesseties yesterday. I was going to take a shitload of pics and nothing would stop me! Except…a lack of space on my phoneOh well, I took a few pictures and they all turned out pretty shitty anyway. My mom took a few alright pictures during Live And Let Die , but she doesn’t know how to zoom in.
Paul was brilliant. He played everything I hoped he would and more. I bawled my eyes out during The Long And Winding Road , Something and the 3-song-finale of Abbey Road that closed the concert. His voice sounded good, though at places a bit fragile. The music was too loud for his voice sometimes. A lot of people said he sounded like s**t, but they should not forget the man is nearing 73! He sounds great for someone of that age. What I also noticed is that usually an artist has a bottle of water on stage and drinks a bit between songs, but Paul didn’t! I’m sure he did between the encored, but he didn’t in the set.
Talking about the music, his band was really great. Abe is a fantastic drummer and a great singer too! He also seems like a funny guy. His facial expressions really made me laugh. That guitarist is awesome too, very enthusiastic, dancing and jumping around while playing guitar. And that one guy who plays the keys, but a lot of other instruments too. Very impressive!
Paul tried to speak Dutch a bit, which was pretty funny. He especially liked the word ”gespeeld” a lot, as he kept repeating it in funny ways.
That Give Peace A Chance bit was pretty cool. It’s impressive how everyone just joined in and it looked as if it amused Paul too.
Someone proposed to his girlfriend on stage. That was cool.
The screens were cool. Had awesome backgrounds.
People’s reactions around me were pretty funny when Paul started to play Temporary Secretary . They looked really confused. My Valentine was definitely THE moment to get a drink or take a leak for people around me, so was Hope For The Future (which IS a pretty boring song tbh). I don’t really like My Valentine either.
I was sitting next to a guy who thought he was fecking Mariah Carey or something so couldn’t really record anything. I did manage to record Blackbird but you can hear his annoying singing a bit. Man, I rather have someone singing flat every Now And Then seated next to me than this, but hey, you can’t say anything.
Without a doubt one of the best concerts I have been to in my life so far. It was an amazing experience.

Great review, Linde. I agree his voice did warble a bit at times, but I was also surprised by how strong it sounded at moments I expected it to be weaker. I’ve heard other people complain about the sound higher up too. It was great where I sat, though I agree Paul’s voice did get drowned out more than once. Not just by the music, but by his band members too. I’d guess those were the songs he knew wouldn’t make him sound too great
I’m going through my photos now, which is a lot of work! There are over 700, though that number an easily be divided by 10 since my camera is set to take 10 photos in 1 second or so, each time I hot the shutter button. I did also take quite a few photos before the show, trying to figure out which setting would give the best result. I ended up with aperture priority, because shutter priority made the photos too dark at 1/125, and they would’ve been blurry with a longer shutter time. Most photos are still s**t, mostly thanks to Paul’s white button down shirt, but there are some decent ones. I accidentally captured something not a lot of people will have noticed: Paul dropping his plectrum halfway through a song. I didn’t even know it happened until I looked at the photos. I’m thinking of making it into a gif.
Anyway, I’m knackered, but The Man will be on stage again in a little over an hour. I don’t know how he does it!

Delighted but not at all surprised that you (@Linde) and @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^< had a such a good time.
I’m a little surprised Paul does ‘Hope For The Future ‘ as it is such a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz of a song – he should do ‘Hope of Deliverance’ instead. ‘My Valentine ‘ is for Nancy so its understandable but another bore. But then he throws in ‘Temporary Secretary ‘ and all is forgiven. If i ever get to see Paul again and he did ‘On The Way’ i’d probably die on that instant with such delight.

Yeah it was reeeeaally boring. Nice visuals though.
@Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^< Oh well at least some of yours turned out alright. I had the light shining right in my camera, so most of my pictures are f****d. I could see Paul clearly and it wasn’t THAT far away, but the pictures made it seem as if I was looking straight into light and as if I am a 100 metres above the stage. This should tell you enough about my phone cam. At least I have the experience. Plus, plenty of pictures and videos of the gig online already!

I haven’t edited my photos yet. They’ve got a lot of noise and need a lot of retouching, but I wanted to share this makeshift album with you 🙂 I’m quite happy with the way some of them turned out, and the one where he’s looking in my general direction really give me the impression of a connection, if you get what I mean.
