Neither of us had a body part autographed. I’ll let Ahhh Girl describe sound check, as I wasn’t there for that. And yes, we both suppressed the urge to rush the stage–although I could have easily done it (of course I would have been promptly thrown out).

I’m subscribed to Paul’s newsletter and I got this today:
Look at his face, Paul you haven’t been this wrinkle-free since The Beatles days, don’t lie and tell us that is all natural ’cause honey it ain’t.
Seriously though it does like quite creepy
Edit: After trying to copy and paste 6 times, various photos none of them are appearing!! Just Google ‘Paul McCartney – Out There’ and look at the promotional posters for it
Edit #2: Woohoo success!

I guess I’ll share my impressions from the concert, in case we NEVER hear from the person who sat in the chair next to me.
Firstly, I would like to thank Ahhh Girl for getting such wonderful seats. She and Ohhh Boy shared a fourth row center seat, so Ohhh Boy sat to my right during the last half of the show while she checked out the floor seat.
We were fourth row from the stage on the right, next to Brian Ray’s guitar rack, and we could see the laptop that ran the set list and lyrics for the teleprompter…so we were able to see what song was next, and when the show was going to be over. It was also nice seeing the band enter and leave to our right. The sound was a bit echoey (but perfectly acceptable) because we were behind the main speakers, but it meant that our ears were saved from being deafened, except during the pyrotechnics for Live And Let Die , in which our ears were blasted and we felt heat from the fire.
Nancy was in the audience, as was an older lady who was a fan at The Cavern. She was part of a group of fans called the Cement Mixers, and Paul knew who they were. Her sign that she held up indicated who she was.
He played for three hours or so and seemed to be very agile and in perfect health. Before the Day Tripper encore, he said “Who wants to rock some more? I do!” We noticed that he seemed to be wearing either a back brace or a bullet-proof vest underneath his shirt.
The concert had a very positive vibe, and I enjoyed every minute of it, especially the singalong parts and “All Together Now .” It was good fun.
Before “Everybody Out There,” he said “This song is for everybody, all the people out there. It’s called ‘Everybody Out There.'” My wife and I thought that was funny.
I think maybe the most touching part of the show was when part of the stage rose up with Paul standing on it, and he played two acoustic numbers, “Blackbird ,” and “Here Today .”
I’m sure our friend can tell you more when she gets around to it.

I forget her real name, but if it was the same woman, she was a Cavernite who John dubbed Sue Cement Mixer. She is mentioned several times in Tune In but my book is packed away because we are moving next week.
Sounds like you guys had a great time. Glad your eyebrows were spared during LALD. Mine are just now growing back!

The woman who was part of the Cement Mixers from the Cavern Club was also at the sound check. I didn’t meet her, but I was in awe nonetheless. Here’s a story about the Cement Mixers and what it was like to be a fan back then.
While being blown about by gale force winds while waiting in line to go into the venue, I talked to a lady from England. She had just been to the New Orleans show. She came to see Paul in the U.S. because he doesn’t do concerts in England. She and a couple from Colorado talked about their experiences of having to switch flights and hotels because of the concert being postponed.
Keeping in mind that Paul just recently got over a bad virus infection, and the fact that there is a big Ebola virus scare in Dallas right now, no fans were invited on stage. I don’t blame him and/or the people who advised him against having fans on stage. We need Paul to stay well!
While we were on the arena floor waiting for the sound check to begin, I asked the crowd around me if anyone was going to wet themselves like the girls did during Beatles concerts in the ’60s. We all had a good laugh.
Sound check started with two Ringo songs , Matchbox and Honey Don’t . During Baby You Can Drive My Car , Sir Paul did not like something with a G chord that was played by someone. They took some time to get that straightened out. Next we were treated to Coming Up , C Moon, Shake Baby Shake, Every Night , Things We Said Today , Midnight Special, Ram On (using the ukulele, and Paul whistled part of it), and Bluebird. All of the lights on stage were blue during the last song.
The sound check package came with free alcohol in the VIP lounge. I was too stoked to partake of any. I only had two bottles of water. The meal consisted of salad, noodles with a marinara sauce, rice risotto with mushrooms, and cookies and brownies for dessert. I was so pumped I ate a few bites of pasta and few bites of rice. I couldn’t manage any more.
Paul changed shoes between the sound check and the concert. During the sound check he had on lace-up dress shoes. He was wearing boots during the concert.
As Ex Tex mentioned, our seats were right beside the area where the band walks to the stage from behind the curtain. I was so set to see Paul walk in, but right at that time, the usherette came by to shoo two little boys away from the railing. I totally missed the band walking to the stage. It all happened so quickly.
The day before the concert, I got a manicure. There was a football game on the t.v. I noticed that the teams had pink as part of their uniforms. I knew this was unusual. As I watched, I realized the pink was for breast cancer awareness month. When Paul took his red dress jacket off and rolled up his sleeves, I noticed he was wearing one of the NFL pink wristbands.
You can see it a little bit in this picture. This picture was taken from the 4th row seat that Ohhh Boy and I shared.
Members of the Beatles Bible will know the significance of Paul wearing one of the pink wristbands.
And hardcore Beatles fans will have made the connection before I even mentioned that there is a connection/significance.
A picture with the red jacket on. This shows our view from the fourth row.
And one more picture so Paulettes everywhere can feast their eyes
While sitting in the seat by Ex Tex, I thought it was cool to actually see Paul’s fingers playing the grand piano. It made me long to see him play a piano in a house somewhere. I can picture a room with lots of windows with a grand piano in the middle of the room and Paul sitting there playing his heart out for himself mainly, with me just being a thankful, worshipful observer.
During Lovely Rita is when Ohhh Boy found me in my seat by Ex Tex and told me I could go sit in the fourth row floor seat. As soon as I had an opening, I held up my poster. Paul pointed at it (at least it seems to me to be what he pointed at). How could he not love the picture of his beautiful wife on there!?!?!
During Band On The Run , the lights (all white) over the stage were all pointed downward to make it look like prison bars around the band. As they were singing, “If we ever get out of here” the lights started going upwards/outwards as though the bars were being lifted into the air so the band could be free. Pretty cool effect.
The lights on the screen were crazy-wicked coming at you during Helter Skelter . I got so dizzy I had to grab the back of the chair in front of me.
I had seen the fire show during Live And Let Die during the concert last year. This time my focus during the song was on Paul’s hair. The front kept flying up due to all the air power from the explosions. So cute! He’s so cute.

@Ahhh Girl, thanks for the review and delighted that you and Ohhhh Boy had such a good time seeing Paul (tho it was never in any doubt) with Expert Textpert.
Out of curiosity what is the significance of the pink armband? My memory isnt that good at the best of times.

Paul’s mother, Mary, and his first wife, Linda, both had breast cancer. So, I’m sure that Paul appreciated the effort made by the NFL to highlight the cause of breast cancer awareness.

@Ahhh Girl, thank you. Yeah, i should have got that, was trying to find some significant with Paul and NFL, overlooking the rest of it all.
So what were the highlights of the evening for you both @Ahhh Girl and @Expert Textpert (aside from being in the same building as Paul)?
