formally United Spirit Arena, now United Supermarket’s Arena is in Lubbock TX. Lubbock is the home town of Buddy Holly. Paul was reported as saying he always wanted to play a tribute to his hero Buddy. McCartney bought the rights to Holly’s music in 76′ and produced the movie “The Real Buddy Holly Story” in 85′. Buddy Holly’s “That’ll Be The Day” was the first song John and Paul ever recorded together. There has always been a connection between that West Texas rockabilly sound and the Beatles and today will be the first time (and I’m sure the last time) Paul has been able to make it to these parts.
I’m sure we will all have a great time. I look forward to giving a full update after the show…

Offline @Thom Mc. Thanks. I’m a huge Buddy fan, tho i haven’t played it for a while.
I wonder if Paul will throw in an extra number in way of tribute to one of his, and fellow Beatles, idols.

Offline My friend who won the iheartradio contest finally got pulled up to meet Paul and got signed by him at the Lubbock, TX concert!
I’m so happy for her. I’d just realized last week it’s been a year since the Jimmy Kimmel concert where we met.

Paul McCartney put on an amazing 3hr performance in Lubbock Texas Thursday night. 25 Beatles songs; 6 Wings songs; 4 solo. Including tributes to Buddy Holly, George Harrison , Jimi Hendrix, and John Lennon . Awesome view from 8th row center. I would do it again a million times. Best time ever!
