There is no question about it, he MUST do UK dates. He’d get loads of backlash for not bringing his tour (which has been in nearly every bleedin’ US city and which is going to Poland) back to his home-country. So don’t worry there will be UK dates (and an Irish too, eh Paul?

I hope so for everyone’s sake there in the UK! The theory I’ve read lately why he doesn’t play as much there as he should is because he gets slagged so much by the mainstream press who still make fun of everything he does, whereas here in the US (and elsewhere, I’m sure) he’s just insanely popular and people love him regardless. Interesting theory, at least!

His selection of cities is quite strange, though…Orlando? Tulsa? Memphis? But not LA? Weird…
Wasn’t that because he wanted to go to places he had never been to/had not been to that often yet?

Some of them, sure…like Warsaw, Verona, the places in Brazil, etc. But he’s also playing New York and Boston, cities he always comes to (NOT that I’m complaining! ” class=”spSmiley” /> )

In the UK papers, at least in News International publications, Paul appears to me to get a very positive reaction to his tours, its only individuals who feel they must voice an opinion so to be heard and noticed that say otherwise.

Well that’s good to know. It seems, at least reading from this side of the pond, mostly the mainstream press and the giant papers that have a go at him…people who actually know what’s up in terms of music and importance seem to treat him more fairly. Am I far off?

That is what I thought also. I am going to see him in Regina, Saskatchewan…not a “normal stop” on any concert circuit! I am CERTAIN he will release more dates as the year goes on. Don’t lose the faith UK fans!

I would think its something like that. I remember listening to the an episode of the second last series of The News Quiz (a bbc comedy weekly news review comedy quiz show) that had a real go at Paul starting off with his Jubilee appearance before going on to slate pretty much everything he had ever done since 1970 and saying he should just retire as everything he’d done pre-Beatles was beyond s**t and people didnt want to hear it – which is complete bullshit. That really pissed me off.
Im quite happy to write that the most recent series was dreadful and i stopped listening to it. Its becoming more an unfunny weekly rant about different issues then a satirical news review.

I’m seeing him in Seattle in July, but I am still hoping that he goes back to Vancouver. I really want closer seats… plus, I could never see him too many times. It would be impossible.
A regular customer told me today that he saw a Wings concert in the 70’s. Paul AND Linda? So jealous!
I was born in the wrong decade, dammit.

Haha, I was only joking. Don’t worry, I’m happy (though envious) for you all.

I know you were joking . I’m hoping he’ll come near you, he’s got to do more gigs later in the year, I can’t see how he can’t!

I wasn’t really that into McCartney when this tour was announced. We missed both of the shows that were 3.5 to 4 hours from our city, mainly due to scheduling conflicts. Now if we want to go we will have to pay 1600 dollars to travel to Quebec City, so I don’t think it’s going to happen for us. Hopefully he tours again.

I’ve seen McCartney every time he’s toured around New York.
And every time I’ve left the concert thinking the same thing: “This was possibly the best concert I’ve ever seen – he’s now getting old – I don’t want to ever see an old McCartney embarrass himself (as he routinely does during short TV/Olympic stints) – there’s no need for me to ever see him play live again.” I first thought that during the Flowers In The Dirt tour when he was, what, 50?
And every time I’ve been wrong. My wife has always found a reason for us to go, and every time the concerts have been remarkable.
This last concert in NY was no exception.
I think he looks older than his years, but he sounds a helluva lot younger than his years!
He also played a raft of songs he’d never played in the NY area, so for me they sounded fresh.
For once, he played a pure Lennon song in its entirety (he’s done bits of Give Peace A Chance ): BFTBO Mr. Kite. That blew me out of my chair, but so did Lovely Rita and Your Mother Should Know – 2 “granny” songs that sounded terrific when played loud and crisp.
(the bass sounded great on Mr Kite).
Other surprises were Another Day , 1985, and Listen to What the Man Said, all of which were puuuh-fect (1985 in particular).
He’s done Hey Jude of course at every concert, and sometimes that can verge on boring. But the crowd was really into it, and I got a kick out of seeing the celebs (Jerry Seinfeld, Jimmy Fallon, Martin Scorsese and Little Stevie from the E Street Band a few rows below us) bopping to na na-na na-na-na-na!
But at 71, he’s getting old.
I’m definitely not seeing him the next time around.

^You’re lucky you’ve seen him so much! I’m so excited for the show next month but I wish I hadn’t waited so many years to see Paul for the first time because I know I’m gonna want to go (and take my kids next time!) next time he plays, but I hope this isn’t the last go-’round for him…he’s gotta stop some time, right?

I read somewhere that Paul said he “planned on touring until he is 80” & then retire! If that’s true – then everyone still has 9 years left!!
I was very skeptical last November when we went to see him. Although, seeing a Beatle was a lifetime dream come true (especially Paul!!)…I was wondering if his age would hinder him. You have to see him to believe him. You have to keep telling yourself that the man on stage is 70 years old. 3 solid hours of entertaining…no stops for water or rest…this man just keeps rocking! When he took his jacket off, he announced that this would be “the only wardrobe change of the evening” He is such a professional. I swear…no one will be disappointed!!

Funny, he used the same line the other night.
Come to think of it, he has often come out with some kind of vest that he takes off after a few songs. (Someone on this Forum should be able to tell us on how many tours he’s done that!)

That’s pretty much the only complaint I ever read about him, is that the stage banter/jokes tend to be the same from show to show. But that’s ok, he’s certainly not the only artist that does that, and it’s all about the music anyway.
