To get back on topic *ahem* most verbosely:

I’m listening to the ‘Out There’ show I saw for the first time (14.7.2013).  It’s not a soundboard boot, but it’s fairly good quality…Actually it sounds like a front row tape, audience sound is low, Paul’s voice sounds like it hasn’t been through a sound board (i.e., Paul sounds like he’s live, obviously the unstruments are coming from the speakers, but they’re not too loud).  Somewhere I think I saw the shows were macca, but as it’s the first macca stuff I’ve knowingly listened too, I can’t really say.  It’s interesting to hear his voice warm up as the show goes on.  It sounds real good though, it seemed like he was having trouble with it in the mid-late 2000s, from video clips I’ve seen.  Of course it’s not quite his 1960s voice, but it’s still better than say…well you can fill in the blanks I wish they had I’ve Just Seen A Face on karaoke in the key he sang it in, it was a fifth or so lower than the original release, and I could have done a much better job with it

Ok, so about a third of the way into the show it is sounding like a board tape now.  Paul’s voice has a touch of reverb, and is much steadier.  I’m not sure which I like better…obviously the full mix as heard through the speakers is nice and more like what I what I heard at the show, but the early part makes it easier to compare with their early performances…obviously he compares very favorably to 50+ yrs ago, say 1962 live shows), and he was looser, not more or less energetic but in a different way…more as an experienced performer than a young kid hopped up on the excitement of performing. 

In fact, something else shows is what a performer Paul is.  The visual show, while not spectacular in terms of special effects like fireworks and laser lights, made it so much better.  Maybe the contact high helped…but it was seeing Paul, his energy, his performance, that made it better, not the special effects (well they helped, but they were really as much distracting as they were good).
