Did you notice that when Paul does his song for George (“Something “), all the great photo’s of George & Paul together that run on the big screen? But when he does “Here Today ” for John…there are no photo’s of the two of them shown together. Why is that?

Perhaps the idea wouldn’t go with the more sombre mood of the performance. The staging is very minimalist during that song.

I did notice that as well. Here Today was also when Paul was alone on that raised platform at the front, which had all of the waterfall graphics on the sides…maybe they didn’t want to detract from that? Plus, everyone knows how close he and John were, but he and George certainly had a much more complicated relationship. Still, I do love those Abbey Road session photos of the two of them laughing and smiling while recording some vocals.

And to think how clueless I was when I went to the concert back in May. I do remember those sequences during the concert. At least I have a picture of them in my head so now that I know the stories behind them I can appreciate them.

I just loved the pic’s of Paul & George…especially the ones of them cracking up…so special!
That is true, the pic’s could have changed the mood of the song & of course, aren’t necessary. I was just curious. I’m always curious! Annoyingly so sometimes! I had to laugh because my friend who came with me to the concert said “Yoko probably wouldn’t allow it” She’s not much of a Yoko fan!!

@parlance,
I missed your concert recap at the time, but just read it now! I love it! So happy for you! Thanks for typing it all up and sharing.

And I turned to the Marine’s wife behind me and tearfully choked out, “Buh-huh, buh-huh, ohmigosh, it’s Paul McCartney , buh-huh, buh-huh.”
She patted me on the shoulder and said, “Yes it is.”
I LOLed, but I’d be the same, I’m sure. I’d be a total disgrace, probably.

Note by Ahhh Girl 22 Aug 2014: For context, this post originally was part of the conversation from posts 226-230.
What some people forget is a basic human experience: I’m sure everyone here has had times with a friend when you have a spat, or your relation is strained, or you get mad, or you sulk and pout — with a strong friendship, it’s part of the rhythms of the relationship. Sure, sometimes it can go on for a long time, but that’s life. The point is, it’s different with a friend than it is when you get mad at a stranger. That’s what the biographer Norman didn’t seem to remember when he brought up that scene in the movie “Let It Be ” where there is tension between George and Paul thick enough you could cut it with a knife. When seen from the outside (and from the perspective of a fan looking at famous “celebrities”), there’s the temptation to abstract it from the complications of real life.
That said, it would be nice some day for Paul to sing “Two of Us” — with one slight alteration to “Four of Us”.

With the glorious (but cooler) autumn weather rolling into New England, I’m getting wistful for the summer and seeing Paul in July. I’ve just put on the recording of the show I went to and it’s transported me back there…wow, was it so fantastic and did he and the band sound incredible! That was pure magic…
Is anyone else who went to one (or more) of his shows this summer also having withdrawals?

What happened to Paul in the winners painting, looks like his skin is shrivelling or he has a part in From Dusk Till Dawn as a vampire.

Just to say, it’s worth registering on Paul’s website if you’re thinking of getting tickets for his concerts. There’s normally a presale which is mentioned on his site (and tweets, emails etc), open to registered members. So if your email address is already in their records you can buy the best tickets without delay.
The Japanese presale is all in Japanese (durr), so I can’t check – anyone know if they are selling VIP tickets today? I only ask because if there’s going to be a UK tour I want to be sure I stand the best chance of getting a front row seat.
