Very interesting. Paul for me was the master of melodic bass lines. As far as him being the finest bass player fundamentally, I guess that would be personal taste. There are a lot of fantastic bass players but when it comes to being innovative, playing to the song, he's the man.
My favorite bass line from him is on 'Think For Yourself ' were he plays the fuzz bass along with the normal bass lines.
The further one travels, the less one knows
It’s interesting to see how ragged some of his playing was. It sounds fantastic with all the other instruments, of course.

You know what? I've always thought that bassline was FUNKY. I mean, the bassline is like a march.
