Looks like Paul did the mature thing and reached out to Phil. Phil, in turn, just used that to make a bigger idiot of himself.
It depends how you see it, I guess. Phil says Paul emailed him but didn’t really apologize. He just told him to get on with his life.

I think that was the right thing to do. Why apologize for something he doesn’t even remember?

Sounds like Phil had his own ego bashed and isn’t going to let it go unless Paul pleads for forgiveness. He’s coming across like a spoiled 5 year old who’s image of Santa was ruined as he failed to get 10 minutes alone and the latest fancy toy.

I think Paul should apologize. It’s good to apologize when the feelings of others are hurt, even though you don’t feel you did anything wrong.

Who says he didn’t apologise? Just because Phil used that email to climb up on his high horse again, doesn’t mean Paul didn’t say he was sorry.
“I’m afraid it happened, you know, and I’m afraid it affected me the way it did and I’m afraid I wrote about it,” Collins tells Billboard. “I think maybe I should just brush it under the carpet and forget about it and move on, but it did happen.” Collins says he did receive an email from McCartney, though he’s keeping the contents private.
“He’s been in touch about it because he was upset,” Collins says. “I certainly didn’t get any flowers from him; I got more of a ‘Let’s just get on with our lives.’ And I’m sorry he’s upset that I kinda said something nasty about him — well, it wasn’t really nasty. If people don’t tell people that sometimes their attitude could be a bit better then you’re not gonna get any better, y’know?”

What I don’t understand is that it seems that Phil has this crazy theory that him speaking out about this will “fix” Paul’s attitude… But this was over a decade ago, so who is to say that, even if Paul had a chronic bad attitude at that time, his attitude is not already better now? If Phil really wanted to help Paul be a better person then he would have brought it up to Paul at the time it happened and not the media a decade and a half later.

You should also take note on the fact that Paul sent Phil no flowers. He probably didn’t get any chocolates either that poor kid. Smh.
I think the BB forum should raise some money together to send Phil flowers on Paul’s behalf.

I wonder many in the comment agree with Collins that Paul is Pompous because they had run ins with him too. But how do we know anything about Paul? Maybe they caught him on bad days. I mean every person is full of themselves a bit.

He lives in J-Lo’s old house. Does anyone here have the address?

Isn’t Phil Collins kind of famous for being stuck up? I remember South Park getting on him pretty good about that.
The fact that this was publicized by Phil let’s me know whos side i’m on in this feud.

So is Paul a pompous person? I think he is probably a little pompous but who wouldn’t be when you are one of the rock legends and still are releasing and touring with many people knowing who you are. I don’t think he is a bad person no one knows him. John Lennon currently loved him and Yoko thinks Paul is cool. So I guess he ca’t be too pompous

We don’t actually know that Yoko thinks he’s cool. They could just have a pseudo-friendly relationship and secretly hate each other. You also can’t say he must not be pompous because John loved him as Paul very well may be a whole new person from who John knew him as.
I would like to think that Paul is not pompous all the time, but can be when he wants, but I will never truly know.
But what I do know is that it was very thoughtless of Paul to not even send some flowers to poor Phil for being so condescending and hurting Phil’s ego.

You’re probably joking but I kind of want to.
I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins’ presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock. Phil Collins’ solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Asked how he feels about his music’s role in American Psycho during a Guardian webchat, Collins replied: “Flattered! I’m easily flattered. I went to see the musical. First of all I was very surprised they made one. It was ok… If I was honest, if my music is being held as representative of an era, then that’s more than I thought would happen to me when I was 13 or 14.”
“I thought the movie of American Psycho was quite funny – I don’t know if it was meant to be,” he added. “I don’t think him being a psychopath and liking my music is linked – my music was just omnipresent in that era.”
