As much as I love Paul’s guitar work, I think George is better because his solos have more feel to them whereas Paul’s seem all over the place and also, Something is my favorite Beatles guitar solo and it’s done by George, using the middle position on his Gibson Les Paul.
If you guys need some help deciding for yourself, here’s a list of songs that Paul played guitar on:
The Night Before (guitar solo, harmonized in octaves with George)
Another Girl (lead guitar)
Ticket To Ride (fills at the end of the bridge and guitar solo)
I’ve Just Seen A Face (lead during intro and rhythm during rest of the song)
Yesterday (only guitar)
Drive My Car (intro, solo, and outro)
Michelle (acoustic guitar)
I’m Looking Through You (acoustic guitar)
Taxman (lead guitar)
I’m Only Sleeping (unsure, Phil McDonald claims that he plays guitar during the outro with George)
Here, There, And Everywhere (rhythm guitar)
And Your Bird Can Sing (lead guitar, harmonized with George)
Got To Get You Into My Life (solo)
Tomorrow Never Knows (solo, recycled from Taxman )
Paperback Writer (lead)
Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band (rhythm on backing track and overdubbed lead using Fender Esquire)
Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite (guitar solo, that part of the song that sounds like a mandolin is actually a guitar)
Good Morning Good Morning (guitar solo)
Flying (unsure, possibly plays lead with George)
Strawberry Fields Forever (solo)
Back In The USSR (lead with George)
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (Paul says that he doubled his bass with an acoustic guitar)
Wild Honey Pie (lead and rhythm)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (bass doubling during choruses, not sure whether it’s Paul or George)
Blackbird (only guitar)
Rocky Raccoon (rhythm guitar)
Why Don’t We Do It In The Road (acoustic and lead)
I Will (lead guitar)
Mother Nature’s Son (only guitar)
Helter Skelter (lead)
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer (lead with George)
The End (guitar duel with George and John)
Her Majesty (only guitar, for the most part)
The Ballad Of John And Yoko (lead with John)
Two Of Us (acoustic lead guitar)
Maggie Mae (acoustic lead guitar)
Also, here’s a list of songs people claim Paul plays guitar on but he didn’t:
I’ll Follow The Sun (they say he plays acoustic guitar but there is only 1 acoustic guitar part, which is played by John)
She’s A Woman (they say he played the solo but they have nothing to back this claim up with)
Getting Better (they say he plays lead but it’s just John and George)
Fixing A Hole (they say he played the solo but George played the solo while Paul played bass on the backing track)
Hey Bulldog (they say he plays the solo but the style more resembles George)
It’s All Too Much (they say he plays guitar but according to Joe John does that)
Martha My Dear (they say he played guitar but according to photographic evidence, George played guitar and there is only 1 guitar part)
Birthday (they say he played lead with John but I believe Joe when he says it was George and John)
Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey (they say he plays lead but it’s George)
Carry That Weight (they say he plays guitar but it’s all George)

I think George the superior guitarist as well. In his solo career, he develops like crazy, but he is somehow able to produce solos more melodic than those from Paul McCartney .
Good Morning Good Morning and Fixing A Hole have very similar styles. I hypothesize Paul played the solo on it.

I think GMGM resembles Taxman more than anything

Although it may sound a lot like Paul, the solo was recorded on the backing track which had Paul on lead vocals and bass, John on maracas, George on guitar, Ringo on drums, and George Martin on harpsichord, with additional vocals and guitar overdubbed later.

Although it’s possible that Paul double tracked George’s lead guitar, it seems highly unlikely.
