My wife and I watched the recording this morning. The tiny harmonica solo was hilarious.
The Camilla/Charles bit killed me.
When he did A Day In The Life , we wept.
What a way to start the day. It was awesome.

Dammit! I totally forgot about this. (My siblings bought some fireworks, and you can't not set those off!) Thanks for the link, MND.
Did you change Paul for some fireworks??? Heh that's ok. Family before TV. Good for you Skye
Well let's see how much they leave this video on the Net. I think Paul was a little emotional in the part “and though the news were rather sad”..

I'm watching it… I just screamed when I saw him in the opening monologue OMG!! That's the best Take my Breath Away version… And the tiny harmonica solo!! AWESOME!!
Oh oh Paul's voice sounds good but a bit worn out… but nevermind he's frigging Paul!! and that purple-ish jacket is fantastic. I love the color! And my favorite Paul's band is Rusty!! His hair is a killer.
OMG!! THE AUDIO CAPTION!!! “Can you do a British accent?” and Paul's deadpan “I can try!” And my new favorite Paul line ever : “RUFFIANS!!! DO SOMETHING CHARLES!! I LOVE YOU!!!!” LOL!!
And listening Paul singing in *this week* in *NY* Give Peace A Chance is ..wow.. very moving.. he didn't have to say the name

Sorry, I didn't watch the whole clip since my PC keeps cutting off my internet connection when looking youtube, but are you talking about the “Give Peace A Chance ” bit? That has been part of his regular concert-repertoire all year.
Of course it is, actually it has been part of his repertoire. But from all the songs he could have sung, he chose this one. I find that moving.
And I don't mind hearing his voice like that to be honest. I mean I feel a bit sad but well it's ok!! I mean, maybe because I see my Dad getting old I can “forgive” his voice deteriorating. The sad part is that he might stop touring soon.
BTW I was listening to The Long And Winding Road from Good Evening NYC album and I felt it more convincing, maybe because of all the experiences Paul has gone through. I don't know if I explain myself, it's not the same listening to a young 20-ish man singing a song about being alone to a 60 year older, who has in fact, being left behind by many beloved ones.

Whatever way you feel I respect it man. And it's ok, you certainly don't ruin my enthusiasm about watching him performing live.
I have to say I'm still starstuck by Paul. It reminds me of that concert I saw in May. Of course it hurts me watching him singing like that.. but to be honest, I don't care!! As long as he enjoys and feels good.
But I understand you because I feel the same in some photos from John and George. That one from John Lennon Collection cover album makes me angry, sad, pissed off in a way you can't imagine. From all the pics in the world, do they have to choose one where John looks so thin and worn out????? I mean, come on!! I know it was chosen because it's from his final photo shooting but give me a break. I don't like John pics when he was detoxing or you can see all the damage the drugs did on him.
And that final photo that was published in the Sun newspaper called “George's final smile”.. ARGH! I hate it!! I don't like to see my favorite singers or actors so batterred by drugs or health problems.
But in Paul's case, I don't know. He looks truly happy when he tours. And well yeah his voice sounds old, he looks old, but I can't think of a better way of living his senior days. It makes me giggle when I see him in sneakers. I can accept it because I see my Dad who is showing signs of his age.
Edit : And the same goes for Ringo.
But I understand your feelings . For better or worst, All Things Must Pass , even for a Beatle.
*17! You know what I mean!*
Edit : Many people are talking about how “bad” Paul sounded.. but some people (who are not hardcore Beatle fans) are saying that maybe the sound system in the ENTIRE show was a terrible one. It seems the mics volume was not the right one, because Paul sounded better with Fallon in Yesterday 's original version a few days ago. What do you think guys?

Gotta love Paul's undying enthusiasm for music, I don't think he should stop touring because he can still play. Maybe he can't sing all that well anymore, but as long as he's up there entertaining the crowd and jamming on bass, guitar and piano for three straight hours, the fans will always appreciate it.

BTW Paulbass… I think you're right about his song-picking… but maybe he played Band On The Run because he's promoting the reissue of that album …
Which songs would you have rather listen? I'm curious to know.

Edit: After the third try I was able to watch that “Stumblin” thing. Sorry for asking, but is that American humour?? I didn't get it.
I guess you could call it American humor. A lot of those SNL Digital Shorts now are Andy Sandburg (the first guy you see in the video) just acting strange. He puts on this big goofy grin and does random stuff like punch people before eating or spit cherries from his mouth like a canon (both real digital shorts!)
I also got the idea that they're making fun of country music? I'm not sure about this, but with the corny country song and everyone wearing cowboy clothes during the mini harmonica solo gave me this idea. Either way, it's just meant to be silly and funny, I guess

I think the whole thing to “Stumblin' ” was just one big sight gag of Andy Samberg and Paul Rudd acting really goofy to the tune of a Dolly Parton song.
There's a small part of me that thinks Andy Samberg's humor relies on him being cute more than being actually funny, but I realized a couple weeks ago that I'm one of those silly fan girls, so whatever. 🙂

Your welcome for the link. And I hadn't actually watched it when I posted the link.
I have to admit I loved the “Stumbling” bit. It was quite funny (at least in my personal opinion) and the bits with Paul where great. Especially the tiny harmonica solo
The audio caption thing was pretty funny too. I really liked the part where Paul deadpaned that he could try and do a British accent.
I thought it was one of the better episodes of the season so far. It was pretty amazing.

I'm one of those fan girls, too Andy is one of my favorite actors on SNL.

I only saw the tribute to John segment and Get Back at the end. I'm finding it hard to feel good about Paul's voice at 69 years. I mean for his age he sings great, however, I wonder if he ought to consider a graceful exit from the stage.
I'm a Beatle fan from 1964 – so I've stuck with them all through the years – and still love 'em.
it's just starting to feel a bit awkward – to me.
